I know I was really curious when I heard about the new TRU True Heroes Ninjas, especially since most of the True Heroes stuff is Chap Mei. Well, I saw the figure multipack today, and I can tell you, they sure aren't Chap Mei.

The sculpting is much worse than Chap Mei product, and the accessories are all swords molded into their sheathes. If this pack had just been the old Chap Mei ninjas, I'd have bought it, those were some cool toys, and I wish I had more of them for parts and such. These, at 7.99, I just couldn't justify, especially not with new Joe product on the way. The new True Heroes Sentinel 1 line has some cool stuff though.

Here's the back of the box:

Neither of these were there, I could maybe see the car winning me over in person, but these are a disappointment.

Ha, Ninja Stealth Car, to silly, but these are aimed at kids.

you have to remember, not all families can afford to pay $10 plus tax for a single figure. $7.99 for 5 figures with nice paint jobs, decent articulation, and accessories is a terrific alternative for parents that can't afford the other fancy, expensive, and higher quality toys.

i was once at a 99 cent store and i saw this kid about 9 years old. he was purchasing a bag of action figures with accessories for like $1. i glanced at the bag and the toys were very mediocre knock offs with sloppy paint jobs and flimsy accessories. and i felt sad that he couldn't afford a real action figure.

the motorcycle and car look very cool. looks like the motorcycle has sheaths in the rear with removable swords. i won't buy these but i definitely want to check them out in person.

thanks for posting pics! :-P

That one in the top left is REALLY reminiscent of VvV Slash.

Saw these, the car and bike at our local TRU last night. The figs were pretty low quality and the bike was oversized. But the car looked really good. It's a one-seater and it reminded me a bit of K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider.

Also saw the Sentinel 1 figs - some great head sculpts. Really debated buying them for customs.

Those're really cool!

And Darko's right, the one with the claws really reminds me of Slash, especially the head and chest.

Middle one reminds me of Subzero from MK. And you can take that Dodge Viper, cut the silly stuff from it and have a nicely scaled sports car for Destro and Baroness.

They have a new vehicle, looks the the Black Dragon VTOL but about 3-4 times bigger. 1 seater but the the front looks like it may big enough to make it a 2 seater, was $31.

Did you actually pick up the VTOL? I think it might be a three seater actually. From what I could tell peering through the box anyway.

it might be worth picking up no matter 2 or 3 seats cuz single seaters suck

maybe the motorcyle too. maybe.

I didn't pick one up, but I have a coupon that kicks on the 1st, so I may pick one up then.

I held a MU figure up to the cycle and it looked pretty good scale wise.

good cuz that ninja bike from the Retaliation line is oversized. the barely articulated SE figure on it looks like a child riding it. and the old VvV ninja bike is too chunky. so if this True Heroes version can top them, I'll need one.

Ran into these figures this afternoon, the VTOL is pretty cool looking, there was also a really cool playset out with these, a dojo castle type looking thing. Looks like it used parts from one of the other adventurer type playsets.

The basic visual designs of the ninjas are excellent. A shame the overall quality isn't better, but, you get what you pay for, and as battlewagon pointed out, not everyone can afford top of the line. Better these than no toys at all.

And frankly, I've seen worse. Considerably so.

And that VTOL is quite impressive-looking, indeed!
