I know the actor likenesses are old news, but I figured everyone would like to see them while I post the two new ones (at least new to me...I had never seen them before). I'd still like to see at least two of these head sculpts happen for multiple custom possibilities. Black Widow would have been nicer with a better paint job. The hand-painted face was much nicer and was the same sculpt. But honestly I think this mold is pretty much easy to forget about with the Avengers one coming soon.

I really love the clear one. It may be just the fun of it being clear or maybe it is the fact that they were more creative by mixing colors. Usually, I just see solid clear figures or clear figures that match/ghost the original toy's colors. I know I would have grabbed this figure at retail instantly. War Machine is almost equally crazy. I just wonder: are they cancelled IM2 figures or cancelled IM: Armored Avenger figures.

Funny how War Machine has full eyes, but Tony seems to have ARAH brown eye dots. At least if there is white, I can't seem to see it.

Speaking of Hasbro's Iron Man stuff, what's probably the "definitive" 1/18 version out? I mean good sculpt, lots of accessories... same for War Machine. I've mostly passed up on the stuff because I don't pay much attention to Marvel anymore, but these look pretty good. I just don't want to have to sort through all 50 versions on pegs to find a decent one.

With War Machine I'd go with the movie version. For Iron Man I think it's the final wave with Mandarin. There is a gold and red Iron Man based on the Extremis armor I think is the best.

That transparent blue and clear is so odd it is cool. It almost reminds me of the Tron version of IM they released. Maybe it was a similar light up figure idea they canned.

I never realized the unmasked heads were that far a long into production. How in the hell did they not secure likeness rights but get tools made up? Or maybe they did get the rights, were all set to release it, stores got clogged up with previous waves, cancelled orders, and it became unprofitable to pay for likenesses for figures that were destined for Ross.

Wow. I don't remember seeing the RDJ head before. I thought the "lost" unmasked wave only had faceplate-less Cheadle and RDJ heads.
The head for Black Widow is only disappointing because it doesn't look like ScoJo, it's not bad on its own.

I had never heard that it was likeness rights(which doesn't make sense), but rather too much product.

Not sure about the War Machine, but I am betting the clear IM is from Armored Avenger, I only bought two of them (RP of Hypervelocity and Inferno armor) both are translucent (do not look it in the pics, but they are) I have no idea if all of them are but it was unexpected when I picked them up.

Aye, that I am. Would LOVE to see castings of the Stark and Rhodey heads. Not really feeling the Widow head and we'll be (hopefully) getting a better figure of her this year.

That seems like sound reasoning to me. The painted eyes and other details that had trouble matching sculpted details on IM2 stuff also seem better on these and better on the Armored Avenger figures. It could be because these are not final releases, but maybe that is another indication that they would have been from AA.

Another thing worth noting is that I had heard BW and WM were on eBay but didn't see them. The right hand on my BW is broken. The fingers are snapped off, but from what is left I can tell that the plastic used is a little bit hard. I missed the boat on grabbing more of them when they were offered, but I did see a couple more of BW....also with the same broken hand. It seems like a trend. And maybe that is part of why she was delayed...and delay turned into cancelled. I don't know if the BW on eBay had a broken hand or not. Of course that is just my theory from seeing a handful of BW figures. It could be that people are just too rough with toys. She had a holster. Maybe the gun was just too large.

I would imagine that likeness rights could have complicated the release of these in addition to the bulk of earlier waves that prevented these from coming out. They had originally been slated to be released in a wave. Then they were going to be in a Target set. And I doubt Hasbro has the ability to just use the likenesses forever since those rights were probably tied specifically to IM2. Still, I would really like to see these released. There are a few uses for these heads just for customs.

If her Avengers figure actually makes it to the store, we have to bet it will have the same crappy torso articulation as the rest of the line, which means it won't be a better figure. Maybe better hips. almost need one of each to make the perfect Widow.
