I stopped by TRU yesterday and found this playset on the bottom shelf in the Batman area. Price is $49.99. I have no idea why they would wait this long after the movie has been out to release this, but here is a quick review.

For your $50, you are getting a re-release of the Joker's Lair Expandable Playset from Batman Begins, the Bat-Pod (without the flip out armor) from this year, the standard lame Batman figure, the even worse Bane figure, and the only really interesting item in this set, the Missile Tumbler in camo colors.

The Tumber is a repaint of the small scale version that came out this year (mostly seen at Walmarts) except in camo pattern and a new roof hatch that incorporates the missile launcher. It's a pity they didn't bother to use the Batman Begins Tumbler with the lights, sounds, and rubber tires, but that would not have made the price point for the set.

Overall, not a bad value if it was $40 but not the best at $50 - wait for clearance on this one.

Just in time for the thread about playsets.

Does that Tumbler open to fit figures, or is it too out of scale?

This just boggles my mind. A playset about a scene 3 hours into an R rated movie, starring figures that can barely move from an ultraviolent movie most kids didn't see?

Weird.

Yes you can cram a figure into the Tumbler. It looks pretty silly though, like it should be a ride in front of a Toys R Us with a coin box.

FYI, Dark Knight Rises was PG-13, but still pretty violent.

Still, Kenner made toys from Terminator 2, Alien, Aliens, Predator and Robocop, so in comparison the Batman films are pretty tame :)

Just noticed that they removed the pop-up plastic Joker's Thug from in front of the bank vault. LAME!

Have you not been in the toy aisle in the last 10 years? Almost every toy line is based off a PG-13 movie.

Did you hear about that one movie a few years back, about 2 hours into it, a guy goes mad, strangles his wife, then tries to kill his mentor/father, in the process gets his arms and legs cut off, then rolls into a river of lava and pretty much is almost burnt to death, all the while the soldiers that trained and fought a grueling battle with their commanding officers, turned on them and pretty much commit mass genocide and wiped most of them out? Even THAT movie got a toy line.

Agreed!

Especially since the Joker's Thug is just painted on, so it's not like they couldn't have just converted it into a Bane Thug!

I think this set looks neat, but definitely nowhere close to being worth its price tag.

Ah, this is better - they are now selling just the Camo Tumbler (missile) at Walmart with a Bane figure for 19.99. Found this one at Kennett Square PA, the only one on the shelf. Walmart has has the black version of this (almost mini-rig) Tumbler for a while, first time I have seen this one. It's not bad for what it is, the paint job is pretty decent. Now if only there was a decent Bane to go with it...
