 well, not really. it's a yojoe.com image of the old one... but what if Hasbro, thinking it could would cut costs, started to market new and various cardboard based G.I.Joe playsets... - would anyone buy them at these times? - if not, how about if they still came with an exclusive figure or two? |

Because a lot of people have shown interest in my version for a while now, I'd say yes and no. I know what I do sells because of nostalgia. It's an item a lot of people wanted or had. It didn't survive for most people over the years and my plastic version will survive for many many years. So if there were to be new offerings from Hasbro officially, there would be several who would be interested. If the item was a pretty nicely done layout, there would be a lot of interest. But there would be a lot of people equally holding back. The knowledge that cardboard items do not survive well is a big factor. That Pit play set with it's cardboard parts shows Habsro has kept cardboard in mind. People emailing me every time cardboard parts come up asking if I can convert them to plastic also shows people prefer plastic instead. |

Speaking as someone who loves the three-dimensional backdrops used on the Rise of Cobra Rescue Mission, Attack On The PIT, Ninja Battles and MARS Trooper packs, I'd love to see more of that. |

I like cardboard playsets. I have the Six Million Dollar Man console and it's awesome. Collectors would love them to display their figures in action, but I wonder if they would be popular with today's kids though. In the age of 3D video games, a cardboard structure with painted details might seem a little plain for them. |

I don't think it would happen in a Retail setting. It would be a nice thing to release digitally... Design a set that can be printed out and assembled... you can include the files with the figures if you like... |

They had those cardboard Star Wars sets during the PotF era. They were fun. Nowadays, I have to agree with Redmao. I don't think they'd be received as warmly. However, I just want playsets like the original Joe HQ and the TTBP again. |

I'd buy them and then be disappointed there wasn't more to them. If distribution could be worked out, maybe as online retailers exclusive, I still think modular playsets would work. Medium sized rooms that could be stacked or put side by side to build a larger playset but also be pretty cool stand alone pieces. Give it some of the super sticker sets so it could be Joe or Cobra, include a couple of relevant diorama pieces, and you'd have something that I think would sell. Say there was 4 rooms in series 1. Even if room 3 didn't wasn't liked as much as the other three, you know someone would be buying extras of it because it is modular and would fit anywhere. |

I would like these if they were done well. I have the Star Wars Cantina and Jabba's Palace sets, and I really enjoy them both. I think I even suggested making more sets along those lines when I was talking with the Hasbro marketing reps at the 2011 convention. |

they would be nice as I really did like some the backdrop pieces that came with some of the Rise of Cobra figure sets. and it would be kind of cool to get something like that maybe not so much in cardboard but a lighter weight plastic that was easier and cheaper to use. tossing in a figure unique to each set would also be a pretty good incentive for more people to buy the sets. The backdrops that came with the Pursuit of Cobra vehicles were okay but nothing more than just something to put behind your vehicle or figure whereas the Rise of Cobra sets were something you could interact with as well. I am on the fence about whether or not I would want to buy one of the missile bases that J_man makes, not because of lack of quality but things like the large, yet flat missile and in the background that tunnel where Slender Man is continually standing, but at the same time it would be great for just a simple background. |

i always loved the old cardboard sets, a nice cheap way to make sets where there would be no set otherwise. it was great when lines had the little mail away sets. but i dont think kids would be that interested in them. |

I would love to see Hasbro make something like this, though printed on a think plastic sheet instead of paperboard. It would have to be rigid enough to not roll up, too. Playmates printed the Enterprise's bridges floor on a vinyl roll-up mat. Good idea but horrible execution. The mat wrinkles and will not sit flat. A command/control room would be a perfect excuse. 3 solid walls printed with flat screen computer monitors, each loaded with tons of images. Make this, Hasbro! |
