I would love a DIC 7 pack! This would give them the opportunity to put out some of the 30th figures! :laserviper: :heatviper: :cgi: :metalhead: :dice: :annihilator: :zarana: cartoon :gnawgahyde: the updated :nightcreeper:
I wouldn't mind some Python Patrol 30th Vipers & Troopers.

I'm probably in the minority but armored CC with the Dragonfire snakeman head would be fun. Also, Night Creeper Leader. Dragonfire Serpentor would be interesting, though that would require a more accurate modern Serpentor sculpt.

Baroness wore slightly different colors on DiC, too. Though, I'd give the slot to Zarana for obvious reasons.

I'd rather see some characters we've not gotten figures of than rehashes of things we have. Zarana is the only exception I'd make since only part of her mold has seen wide release. Night Creeper Leader would be fine if they based his figure off the Battle Corp version but then that kinda defeats the purpose of a DIC pack. As he appeared in DIC would just be a Night Creeper with a different head. A separate Night Creeper pack would be interesting though if it had the Night Creeper Leader, the updated Night Creeper from the concept case and some Night Creepers based on the Ninja Force version and maybe some variants thrown in.

Well, if they used the updated Night Creeper from the concept case with a different head (and then threw in the regular Creeper head as well) for Night Creeper Leader, I'd be more than fine with his inclusion in a DIC 7 pack. Laser Vipers are another good candidate given how common they were in the DIC episodes. If they were to go that roue though, I'd rather the set be nearly all army builders or none.

New JoeDeclasified interview link update. Nomad got to talk with DePriest and got some answers on distribution and likelihood of seeing any toys based on Resolute or Renegades.

Jesus, they really phoned in the Renegades toyline all the way. And unlike Resolute, not even multi-packs.

It really feels like the only people who had the passion for a quality product there were the people involved with the show itself. At Hasbro they're all "Meh, who gives a rat's buttocks?".

As awesome as it was, I think we can forget about Renegades.
Another cartoon hits the drain for the benefit of a movie.

The brand really needs a media presence throughout the year.
Maybe web series with a new chapter to announce the new toys. Maybe use the old formula that introduces the theme of the toy assortment and leaves the conclusion open so the kids will want to continue the story through their toys.
Announce it on the various social medias and on TV.

A story that only lives as toy inserts might make the characters more "alive", but it won't put the brand out there, since only those who buy the product will know about it.

Didn't they try that with Operation HISS after Rise of Cobra hit?

I was dissapointed to read this:

No plans to integrate IDW into the mix – they’re doing their own thing and we’re letting them tell their own stories

I would have more interest in IDW's stories if they mirrored a story I could follow along as I bought figures at Retail..

Well, having read the three interviews cited in the initial post, I have to say I'm feeling a little more hopeful about G.I. Joe. Derryl Depriest is a good man, and he certainly seems dedicated to getting the Joes on a good track. A few thoughts:

I hope whenever they get those polls up for choosing characters, that we're well-alerted to them. Of course, of the figures that were shown at the Convention, especially the JoeCon, about the only ones I wouldn't be interested in would be the zombies. As for the rest -- single cards, seven-packs, online, whatever. As long as a decent quantity of them are made and they're not impossible to find. I look forward to any of them.

However, it does look as though we may have a bit of a dearth of Joes until the movie gears up again, but now we have a release date for new merchandise -- February 11. Mark it on your calendars. :)

Nice to know they're aware of the general fan opinion of the current driver figures.

AND nice to know they're aware that the distribution of the "Dollar General" Joes is not all it should be, and they're looking for ways to correct that. I'm sure I speak for many of us when I say -- I want those figures!

As for G.I. Joe figures from the DiC series? Ummm -- no. I know that that series existed to give the G.I. Joes of the early 90's some additional media time, but seriously, it just wasn't that good, and the amount of stuff that's just impossible to sit through these days. I mean -- "Kindergarten Commandos", Metal-Head's grandmother, that ludicrous football game, Ozone getting turned into a giant bug, Pathfinder and Cobra Commander having to deal with an amorous gorilla, the voices alone for Overkill and Night Creeper Leader -- oh, please, stop the pain. About the only decent thing to come out of that entire mess was the two-parter where G.I. Joe and Cobra teamed up against HeadMan and the HeadHunters. That and some of my favorite characters -- Big Ben, Red Star, and Big Bear -- got some animation time. But there's just not enough there to warrant dedicated toys in my opinion.
