*supposedly

I got this message just now:

Quote:
Hello all you G.I. Joe Fans!

The FSS will go live today. You can check the club site later for the url. Thanks for your patience while we got this finished. The system is very simple from the user perspective. The complicated part is the part you don't see as we have to be able to installment bill, change shipping docs, change cc info, etc. The admin side is VERY complicated.

I hope that the information below will answer most of your questions. If you have more, use the link at the club site GIJoeClub.com and we will answer and post them at the FAQ.

Thanks again for your support and patience!

Brian

1. You must be a member of the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club to take advantage of the Figure Subscription Service.

2. There is NO reason to rush the site or be in a hurry as this is a build to order system. We will build as many as you order, so we cannot run out. YOU CAN ORDER AS MANY AS YOU WANT, there is no limit.

3. What you do need to be concerned about is the closing date of the subscription service, which ENDS on September 4th at midnight.

4. You can either pay In Full or by Installment. There will be 3 installments. When you subscribe and choose pay by Installment, you will be billed for the first two months’ shipments. Then sometime during the second month, you will be billed for the 3rd and 4th months’ shipments and sometime during the 4th month you will be billed for the final 2 months’ shipments.

5. Your free surprise 13th figure will come with your final shipment during the 6th month.

6. The figures will be shipped in random order. All members receive the same figures each month. The figure pairings will not be preannounced. So if you don’t mind, when you get your shipment each month, PLEASE do not go online and tell what you received. We want each shipment to be a surprise for as many members as possible.

7. The cost is $294 if Paid In Full (plus shipping) or three Installments of $98 (plus shipping). Please note that there is a $3 online processing fee for each billing. We take Visa, Discover or MasterCard. Unfortunately we cannot accept Money Orders or Checks for this offer.

8. If you pick a shipping service that does not include insurance or if you don’t pick the insurance, we do not have any responsibility for replacement of lost or damaged or misdirected orders.

9. If you move or need to change your credit card during the program, you can log into your account and change it there. This will change all of your future FSS billings and shipments. We will also be sending you reminders to check your address and cc before each billing/shipment goes out. We are not responsible for shipments that are lost due to incorrect shipping information on file.

10. We are waiting on the final schedule from China so we don’t know exactly when the first figures will ship. We hope it will be by Christmas. We will announce this as soon as we get the final schedule.

11. Some of the figures (single figures) MAY be available in the Club Store after the subscriber’s figures ship. These will be at a price of $32 per figure. There is no guarantee of availability of any of the figures in the club store. If you want to ensure getting these limited edition figures, you need to subscribe to the service.

The price is pretty much what I expected, around $300 plus shipping.

Way too expensive for me. $294 plus shipping plus membership plus $3 to $9 fee. If their shipping is anything like Mattel's for their subs, what is that, like $400 total?

More nickel and dimeing. Whats the reason for the $3 fee per billing? Why not include the cost of shipping in the total price? Why not at least tell us how much each shipment will cost? Why do they feel the need to keep everything secret with the figures' order of shipping?

And I really don't care how complicated they claim this all is, thats not our problem as customers, er, "club members".

If you've ordered from the new Club store you'd see that they are offering different shipping methods depending on what you want to pay. They aren't keeping it a secret, they just don't know what option you'll choose.

The $3 fee is most likely to cover the credit card fees that businesses get charged. Sure they could have built that into the cost of the subscription but its the Club so I don't expect them to get everything right.

The order of the figures shipping is probably due to them not knowing what figures will be ready to ship when. You know what figures you are going to get in total so what is the big deal what order they come in?

Just an FYI example of their shipping costs. I ordered a carded Footloose on Monday. I selected USPS Priority Mail because it is trackable and usually arrives faster than Parcel Post. My cost for that single carded figure was $8.65 from Dallas TX to Los Angeles CA. With USPS tiered rates I'd guesstimate the Priority Mail cost for 2 figures to be around $10.

Yes its an expensive subscription but the cost before shipping comes out to $22.62 a figure for all 13. With shipping of about $10 that's $27.62 per figure. The convention set figures by comparison was $23 a piece.

Honestly, I'm happy with what they've presented for the FSS. Is it perfect? No but I'd rather have this, which gives you plenty of options for payment and shipping (compared to Mattels subs which have 1 payment option and 3 shipping options, 1 of which is overnight). They've kept the cost down to what they've told us from the beginning ($20-25).

I honestly don't see why people are upset unless they just want an excuse to piss all over the Club.

Also, the $3 fee sucks, but it's the same fee they charge for convention registration, so it isn't like it is a big surprise.

That's probably the one thing I really don't like about this. The Club just has a real hard-on for surprise reveals and I wish they would just knock it off. They've gotten better about the convention set reveals the last few years but with all the delays and other nonsense we've tolerated regarding the subscription they need to just come out and announce what figures are shipping when they go out. They don't have to announce the whole line-up because as I said earlier they might have issues with when figures are ready to go. But when they have that month's shipment set they should come out and say "hey guys, here's what's coming this month".

That is not going to work at all.

I know it would be against credit card company rules to outright say that's what they are doing.

So I have less than one month to decide. Isn't that cutting it a bit close? :-/

Anyone want to go halfsies with me?
I know I want:
Topside :topside:
TNT
Quarrel
Grunt :grunt:
Dice :dice:
Cover Girl (will give up my comic pack :covergirl: http://www.yojoe.com/action/06/agentcou ... eger.shtml to my partner if that helps)

The only problem is the 13th "surprise" figure.

Seriously, who is going to be the first ones to get a set of figures and NOT post what they got? The club has issues with information sharing, they don't like it. And when they do share information, it is fouled up in some manner.

I reluctantly got it. I sort of have to have that Grunt figure to do the money shot with the Falcon glider I'm doing. Plus I do like some of the others. Not really worth the cost, but I'll be a fool a little longer before I finally start pushing away.

I think it's just ridiculous how you have to be a member to buy them. I can blow just as much on MOTUC for bigger figures and no membership is needed. A membership ups the price even more to anyone like me, because honestly, going to a convention is expensive, their newsletter is pointless and the "free" figure ends up not being free, because that's the only reason to do the membership. I also think it's funny that they said it'd be less than $25 a figure and it comes out to $24.50, because according to them, you pay for 12, you get one free. 294/12=24.5. I really can't believe how many people are spending money on this company after everything they've done. The credit card fiasco would have been the last straw for me, if I had any left.

You have to be a member because these are being offered by the club to their members. Why is that such a hard concept to grasp? Mattel offers theirs to everyone because they aren't a club that you have to be a member of to participate. If the Joe club were to offer these to everyone, that would kind of defeat the purpose of them offering it to begin with.

No mass produced 1:18 scale figure with no limited availability is worth 25$ a piece.
Well, actually 30$ shipped.

Just feeding that pig...
