Nice info! Wish every GI Joe Convention was as on the ball with getting their information out as the Canadian Convention. :shifty:

I so need to get my passport.

You so do. And that goes for the rest of you, too! If Robert Atkins can find the time to be awesome and get his passport, so can you!

Wife and I strongly considering this one, too. Since it's one day, any recommendations for what else to do on our first trip to Canada while we're in the area?

Niagra falls. That is like a whole day right there. Breath taking. Downtown Toronto is close by to where the Con is and well worth checking out.

The CJC hotel is in the airport/business class kind of area. Not shady by any means but set up more for people who just need to eat and sleep. No much for stores within walking distance. But the hotel has a lot to offer in the way of amenities like a spa and pool and such. Oh and free computer station in the lobby for quick JC updates. :shifty: Also, free timbits while supplies last.

I learned last year, do the money exchange before you go. The exchange rate changed over night last time and it was not in the US $ favor. That made the breakfast buffet a little bit more expensive so I went back for more bacon. Mmmm bacon.

Looks like it's about half as cheap to fly into Buffalo and drive the rest of the way. We've got our passports (which we'd need to a direct trip anyway, obviously), any reason we might not be thinking of not to do the cheaper flights, snag a rental car, and drive across the border and the rest of the way?

I know VERY little about the Canadian Joe Con exclusives, but what I've seen looks pretty cool. These are essentially custom sets made in large quantities, right?

The figures, in effect, are customs made in large quantities, yes. Impressive customs if we can toot our own horn. It is the storylines told through the custom filercards and comic book that help set these exclusives apart.

I certainly didn't mean "custom" disparagingly. :) The ones I've seen are very cool, I was just curious if they were "hand made" or factory produced. :)

How does obtaining them work? Pre-Order with con pickup?:)

Wife is totally on board with the Canada trip, and for whatever reason this sounds way more fun and my speed than the club con. Not saying we might not do both, but we're both getting pretty excited about Toronto.

Me and the fiance drove up last year from Wisconsin. We went to a Blue Jays/Orioles game while we were up there, and then we did Niagara Falls on the way home. I was surprised by the amount of vendors and cool stuff at the actual show, though. I definitely did not bring enough cash to buy all the stuff I would have liked. :)

I flew into buffalo for the 2010 con and drove up there. Had a blast! Stayed the night in Niagara falls, and the hotel in toronto has a great indoor pool. The experience was a great one at the con itself for sure. Couldn't recommend it more highly.

And of course, you've got to get some Timbits!
