At this point, I think we all know that Duke was meant to die in the 1986 movie. I read (online) a while back that he wasn't the only character that was supposed to buy the farm. Apparently, Gung-Ho, Alpine and Bazooka were supposed to die while trying to stop Serpentor's escape from the Joe stockade. I don't remember where I read this, it might not have been credible. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this? Also, are there any other characters that we know (or think) may have been on the chopping block? Are there any storyboards from the movie or deleted scenes that may have been revealed? OB |

I've never read anything about Joes dying other than Duke. If you ever find the link, I'm curious about the source of where you heard that. |

Well they could have pulled the same thing with A,B and GH, seeing as the only reference we get is a statement by duke that they were injured. could be interesting to see how well the animation matches up to what he is saying. We never hear about them until the end, which is done only by voice over, just like when they say Duke is doing fine. |

Never heard such a thing. I doubt it since Gung-Ho had a new figure on the way (figure were designed a good year before they hit stores). Hector Rameriz was supposed to be in the film but his storyboard scene was never animated. |

Considering Duke's death was undone by changing the script of his death scene and the final scene, post-animation, I very much doubt anyone else was meant to die, since we see these guys all the way to the end. |

Do we see Lift Ticket and Wild Bill after they kick Lt Falcon out of the Tomahawk? No, not because the helicopter was meant to crash but because they filled their role in the film and weren't needed again. On the DVD commentary and in interviews, the movie's story developer Buzz Dixon has been very open with changes like Duke's coma and Zarana's bathing suit. For him to have never even mentioned that these characters were supposed to die makes me doubt it. |

no.... somewhere, within the last year, there was an interview stating that Alpine, Bazooka and GH were not meant to make it. I am positive I read the same thing. I think it was rather new information that nobody had really knew before. I read the same thing, it's out there, and the info was from someone who worked directly on the series. |

Hopefully someone can find that interview. Storywise, Falcon being given a second chance after 3 Joes died because of his incompetence seems more unbelievable than Cobra-La. |

Unless this was massively early stuff that got cut out long before the film went to animation, I'm doubting this. Again, Duke's entire survival was via changing the script in post-production to add the "coma" and "Duke'll be fine" lines. For them to do that, but animate the surviving characters appearing throughout the film, seems unbelievably unlikely. |
