Howdy, y'all.
I'm planning on doing a few part-swap customs with the Destro v3 molds, and probably should have come here before spending a bunch of dough on eBay.
I recently bought Comic Pack #24 Destro in the hopes of swapping that head onto a Destro v3 body I got in a parts auction. I discovered unfortunately that the two don't work together because of an added brace on the front of CP24 Destro's neck ball. As a result, the front of that Destro's neck ball trough was removed from the front torso piece.

What I need to know is if the neck ball trough is missing from inside the chest of the '97 and '01 Destros, or is this change exclusive to the 2005 Comic Pack version.

The change to the neck construction was made to the 1997 version and kept for subsequent versions.

Can't swap it with a '92 Destro, but it can be done (and I have done it!) with a 2001 Destro.

I might do this too, the head with painted eyes is just...disturbing.

Also, Major Bludd would look better modeled off the guy who played Wes in The Road Warrior. Or Igo from Innerspace. Maybe the biker gang leader from Weird Science. Besides...Bennett didn't have an eye patch...it'd never work.

Is this the bar that goes around the ball like Saturn's rings? I've shaved that off before. Works like a charm once you trim it down. Note: I haven't done that with this headswap, so your mileage may vary.

Thank you, everyone.
(And I love your custom, Jay.)

My goal is to have one (or more) decent Destro(-es) from this mold family, and I'm also going to try to swap in some Crimson Guard Commander lower arms so that Destro can keep his wrist rockets. Even though I already own a 1983 Destro (no black accs.), I want to make one that is slightly more show accurate. I even got my Cobra Commander (vers. 1 or 14) one of Dr. Mindbender's 2002 capes to recreate my favorite scene in the 1987 movie (behind the title sequence):
Destro wrote:
Militarily speaking, it's only fair to mention that Cobra Commander is a world-class... buffoon.
Cobra Commander wrote:
What!? Dr. Mindbender! Baroness! Brave Xamot and Tomax! You won't let this assassination of my character go unchallenged, will you?
Dr. Mindbender wrote:
Certainly not! He forgot to mention your frequent bouts of cowardice.

( I still haven't mastered Serpentor's opening dialogue. I can't hold a straight face after "Blunderers! Fooools!")
If I ever get ahold to a second '97 Destro, I might make my own "Pimp Daddy Destro", though I'm not sure if he'd look better with the head he came with or a chromed Comic Pack one (provided I can find someone able to chrome it for cheap). I would also need to find a "super collector" who can tell me what Joe has a color close to the tan used for the leopard print. And maybe a spare Sgt. Slaughter baton...

Hah, that's the joke, my friend!

But he forgot to list Ransik from that one Power Rangers show, too.
