I personally think the Starship Troopers aircraft resembles a more attack oriented Clone Trooper transport craft.

I honestly think that the cover artist used the NAC for a visual reference while painting this image.

I think that book was out long before the NAC.

In any case, looks more like a Star Wars Gunship to me than anything.

That's the 1987 edition.

Ace Books, paperback, 263 pages, ISBN 0-441-78358-9

So that cover came first and was most likely the inspiration for the NAC (Wildfire).

Date in the book says 2010...so NAC wins... artist used the NAC as a reference....

1987 book wouldn't have 2010 listed... ;-)

Is Starship Troopers a series of books or just the one? I read the book many many moons ago and when the movie came out, I was...well, the movie kicks ass, the book kicks ass,but the movie being based on the book? Not so much. Ah well...

RogueTiger, maybe it's a reprint from 2010 but uses an older cover? It looks like a combo of both the NAC and the Clone Gunship.

If they were inspired by one another. It's too bad one had to be a chopper.

Based on this website the cover isn't from the 1987 edition. http://www.wegrokit.com/museum.htm which means the NAC came first and was used by the artist as inspiration for the cover.

That is a really cool find though.

I wouldn't say that necessarily means the NAC was any sort of inspiration. It was hardly an iconic (or even good) toy. I would really say it's coincidence, if anything. Besides, it looks a lot more like a Star Wars Gunship than the NAC. I could see that being used as the inspiration, especially if this cover is post-2002.
