So at Joelanta this weekend I found a Dreadnok Fang with nice Skids & Engine cover, but a broken Rotor.

I was working on fixing the rotor tonight when I noticed nubs on the side of the Engine that aren't on my other Dreadnok Fang.

I have one other Dreadnok Fang Shell, and it is without nubs. On both Engines without nubs I can see distortions in the plastic where the mold was modified.

I don't have my Regular Fangs Handy so I'm just curious if people can check theirs.
Worth noting is if you are 100% sure that your Fang is a Mail-away version of the Fang, versus one that came out of the Box. Also if you have a Funskool or other Foreign-Make Fang, that would be great to check.

My childhood Fang that I opened out of the box has the nubs, as does a couple more, I have two without...possible mail-aways and I have a funschool one in the box that does not have the nubs......one a side note...how was Joelanta this year...I haven't been able to make it in recent years and I am beginning to miss it.....

The leading theory from Tolen, (the community's biggest FANG collector) is that the early release of the mold had the nubs and flat landing skids, just like the FANG. Later releases, such as the mail away versions, don't have the nubs and have a ridge running down the center of the skids.
