Two for one question today...

Is the vintage and 25th Air chariot the same mold or are there differences in their sizes?

I'm building my Cobra command structure in both ME and o-ring and am wondering if I'll need to try to score a vintage Air Chariot, I have a second 25th version and might just use that if there's no difference.

Comparison pics would be helpful if anyone can do that, thanks!

Do you use Serpentor in your Joe-verse?

I've come to the conclusion he's the Cobra version of Duke. Some love him, others hate him, what's your take?

While my Joe-verse is based mostly in reality (it might not exist, but it could, like the HISS), I always loved the cartoon version of Serpentor. The idea of getting the DNA from history's leaders was a neat story line, as I seem to recall in the comic it was basically the same idea, but he was created for slightly different reasons.
Cobra Commander is still the man in charge of Cobra, but he really didn't have any military training, Destro and the twins are business men, Baroness is not really suited for the leadership role like that, Mindbender is a scientist, Firefly, Major Bludd and Scrap Iron are really just hired hands, Storm Shadow is a ninja... a leader for Cobra's troops was desperately needed, so the idea for the DNA cloning thing came to be.
Serpentor was created with the DNA of all the great leaders and conquerors but he's more controlled in his manner. He knows that Cobra Commander is the man in charge. He is a senior ranking general in the join chiefs to Cobra Commander's Commander in Chief. He's more interested in leading the troops than taking over Cobra.

I use Serpentor as an upstart in the Cobra organization.

He started out as Cobra's version of the super soldier, but they didn't factor in the egos of all those famous leaders.

Serpentor reached the pinnacle and ran Cobra until he was struck down by Zartan's arrow. (that's Serpentor v1)

I use the ARAHC Serpentor as a Frankenstein's Monster or second clone. As a Frankenstein's Monster he would be brought back to life, and be very paranoid about his life ending again, so much that he becomes very proactive and goes into over kill mode very easily. As a clone, he would be slightly degrades as a copy of a copy, etc.

Cobra Commander will always be the head of Cobra, but there will always be those that want to rule for themselves... That's where Serpentor and the Coil (a Cabal of the anti-Cobra Commander Hierarchy) come in.

The 25th Air Chariot is a retool of the vintage one with some new parts much like the RAM. I believe the snake head steering wheel thingie is new and the footpegs are 25th size.

That's kind of what I figured, a few of the 25th vehicles got those "slight" changes. Thanks

Do I use Serpentor? Yes, I use him as COBRA's number one feild commander (a history buff who thinks he's the next comming of all those great warriors) His Air Chariot however is a hovercraft that only floats approximatly 2 feet off the ground. He takes orders from Cobra Commander because the Commander has provided him an army to lead.

Pretty sure it's 100% new...based on the vintage vehicle...but so much of it was changed it would have been easier to cut new molds than modify the vintage ones to work.

Serpentor is my universe is a field commander as well. He's been mind wiped so he only takes orders and dishes out pain.

I like the character design, but the cartoon's use as a usurper bully, and the comic's sue as a divider of Cobra are both annoying. The comic at least took him out at the hands of Cobra Commander.

You will find difficulty getting 25th Serpentor onto the 25th air chariot. Simply put, the thing is only a slight retooling of a vintage RAH vehicle and Hasbro didn't think it out properly. It's made for a 3 3/4" classic figure, not a modern 4" figure. Expect to really hunch Serpentor down.Hasbro really should have sculpted a much taller set of handlebars and such.

The vintage toy is great. For the character, I follow the comic history. Normally I don't but the death of Serpentor adds to Zartan and Firefly's use of the body adds to his badassness.

Back when I originally got Serpentor, he instantly took command of Cobra from Cobra Commander. After some time, I decided to use Cobra Commander to lead Cobra, and Serpentor serves an unruly second-in-command.

Much like Starscream was to Megatron.

Back when I got him, it was the same as getting the Cobra Overlord. I had no idea what to do with him. It took Larry showing me any form of use in the comic. The cartoon was entertaining but not how I wanted to use him. I much preferred the hostile take over and battle between Cobra Commander and Serpentor. That's about the thoughts I have now. Although I have really sat and thought out any story ideas for him. He'd probably be sitting firmly with his own army and brand of Cobra with Cobra Commander also having his own. They would clash every so often, but be a double threat to G.I.Joe and the world.

Serpentor is the god-like idol for The Coil. They were responsible for the second incarnation of him and the second attempt at overthrowing Cobra Commander. After his death The Coil went into hiding in the Middle East and set up base there as they await "The Return". As of now Overlord leads the rag tag bunch that also includes Crystal Ball, Raptor, the original Croc-Master, Big Boa, and Copperhead. They have kidnapped the rumored clone of Serpentor's DNA, a teenager named Hannibal, from a government sanctioned orphanage. He has since grown accustomed to the worship and adoration of The Coil and has no desire to leave the group. A mysterious man with a falcon recently approached the group, known only as Shaman, proclaiming that he can resurrect Serpentor if the body is laid before him. Now The Coil's goal is to recover either the original body from the US government or find the remains of the second Serpentor on Cobra Island.

I rarely played with Serpentor much. The figure seemed to fragile even back in the day with the easily torn cap and all. Nowdays, that aging gold plastic is worse.

I was never too big on the costume either. Too super villain, the best Cobras balance comic book villain with para military terrorist.

I associate the character with a more straightword aggressive Cobra. Cobra Commander was sly, "silent take-over attempts first, shoot last" type of terrorist. Serpentor is the type who'd invade Washington D.C., I think the comics got him wrong on some level, probably because Hama wasn't crazy about him. He's an emperor....as in "empire", it's conquest or nothing!

I cannot reconcile him being subordinate to anyone. It goes against how I see the character.

I figure Venomous Maximus was an attempt to redo the Serpentor character as a super soldier rather than as a new leader.

I basically bash Serpy with DC's Kobra to make Kobra Serpentor. He wasn't created by anyone in COBRA, but his learning of what he sees as an usurper organization (Kobra is a centuries-old secret cult while COBRA is barely 2 by the time he notices them) causes him to become more engaged with the world. Due to his emergence, many COBRA troopers find him more alluring and abandon their COBRA posts to become Kobra Serpentor worshippers.
