I was catching up on Hawk's figure reviews and was stunned at how much I liked the Zandar one. As a kid, I bought him because of his relation to Zartan, but his paint scheme and the accessories he came with never really appealed to me. As a result, he was always an "early casualty". I never read any of the comics, so I don't know if he's portrayed as more interesting there.

What are your thoughts?

Even though he had crazy colors, I really liked this figure as a kid.
He was this lonely wandering hero righting the wrongs as he traveled the land.
A sort of Rambo meets Mad Max.

He's a faithful update of the original figure in far superior sculpting. That said, he's still a pink & blue eyesore. I'd like to get a second 'Nok pack at some point for fodder & plan on making a more practical Zandar. Also gonna make a Zarana out of that extra Zanya.

well the dreadnoks have always been my favorites, i love their cheesy 80s mainstream concept of punk weirdo style. so i always thought zandar was cool looking. i just figured he must have been a real bad ass to be able to wear that pink neckerchief in that crowd.

Dasaffe. I dislike the figure, but the character I like a lot. The colors are way too 90's. He looks like the background to Saved by the Bell.

Dasaffe. the character has such potential, but has never been fully realized in figure form

Me too. I treated him more like a Soldier of Fortune with a heart of gold.

I'm actually torn. I like the character well enough, and I think the part choices for the body fit more or less. It's the head sculpt that's odd to me. One one hand, it's a great sculpt. On the other, it looks nothing like the original with his New Wave lengthy bangs and his David Bowie cheek bones.

Dasaffe.

I liked his portrayl as a COIL agent in the DD comic. Don't really care that much for either figure.

Chalk up an other one for Dasaffe, simply because I'm neutral about this figure. His look does nothing for me. He looked more glam rock than punk rock, so he loses some Dreadnok street cred for that. The filecard was funny, the character had potential, but I don't know if he ever really lived up to it. And even as a kid I wasn't too impressed with his color change ability, it seemed gimmicky even back then. My favorite thing abut this fig was his cool arrow rifle.

Also, I didn't care for the idea of Zartan having family. He was so mysterious when he originally came out, but then, oh I guess he's not that special after all, his bro and sis can do all the tricks he can too!

The figure, meh, the character = awesome.

Zartan master of disguise = cool, but kinda normal. Zarana = mistress of disguise cool but kinda normal, and just a rip off of Zartan...

Zandar = master of infiltration, mostly due to being completely and utterly forgettable. that too me is fantastic.

He reminds me of a pro-wrestler. So I dig him.

Back in the day, one of the first figures I truly customized was Zandar. I used a spare Snake Eyes v2 torso to replace the garish bare-chested, pink-scarfed one he came with and used a black Sharpie to go over his shoulder pads. He quickly became the anti-Snake Eyes and my favorite bad guy ever.

After he beat Stormshadow like a dog and sent him running to the Joes, I had him kick Zartan out of the Dreadnoks and slap his sister around for ignoring him all those years. Then he was lord of the swamp.

Admittedly, some of this was wish fulfillment from a largely ignored third of four children with an older brother and sister who tormented me growing up. But part of it was the idea of how powerful the unexpected really could be. And that was what he embodied.

So, yeah, LOVE the character. Not a huge fan of the original look or this rather slavish recreation.

Would've much preferred his blue tank top with sholder armor and a mess of blades, a'la Devil's Due.

Maybe I'll see about picking up a second to customize.

Never did anything for me, maybe if he'd been used more.
