| Post subject: | Who is on your ultimate team? |
If could you to build your own sub team for the Joes, who would be on it? Mine is made up largely from the team assembled for the second season episode, "Let's Play Soldier." I felt the characters used just worked very well together. Flint: Team Leader I've got nothing against Duke, but I always just liked Flint better and thought he'd be good as a small team commander. (Not featured in the episode) Lady Jaye My favorite of the females, She seems like she'd be really good on covert ops, plus I think it's written somewhere in the Joe mythos that she and Flint have to be with each other at least 90% of the time. (Also not from the episode) Beach Head I don't know what it is about this guy, but he is just one of my favorites. He's a versatile character and can be put just about anywhere and get the job done. Low Light Gotta have a sniper. In the 'toon he was always kind rough and no nonsense, and I liked that about him. Mutt and Junkyard My favorite character as well as someone who can hold their own in a fight. Plus dogs make everything more awesome. (Not featured in the episode either) Gung Ho, Leatherneck, Wet Suit, and Mercer These guys are the muscle, the heavy hitters, the guys you know have your back, plus Mercer can provide Cobra related information. These guys are all versatile characters who can be put anyplace and get the job done. Recondo and Snow Job are a couple of my favorites, but kinda limited by their expertise in their usual environments. I have plans for the above mentioned characters, just need to get my hands a few Steel Brigade Troopers an another RHINO... |

This is entirely based on my play patterns as a kid, and my teams were usually based on what new figures I got at the same time. Some favorites were upgraded later on though. Here is my ultimate fire team Team Leader: Duke Rifleman: Stalker (also acts as team medic and RTO) Automatic Rifleman: Rock N Roll Field Artillery: Zap (also acts as team ordnance technician) I do like Flint and Falcon, but both are officers, so I see them as more of a command role. |

I broke them down by vehicle teams with each vehicle filling a role. Desert Fox (Recon) Skidmark Lt. Falcon Stalker (gunner) PsycheOut (comm) Hammer (Command) Hawk Duke Rock n Roll (gunner) Dial Tone (comm) Hit n Run Flint Clutch Warthog (Reserve/Heavy Weapons) Sgt Slaughter Muskrat (gunner) Lightfoot (comm) Roadblock Salvo Backblast Bazooka Shockwave Outback (loaded with every weapon I could fit on him) |

Man, there are so many possibilities, depeding on what the mission required. So I guess here's my preferred Joe team roster if the President calls them up and just says "I need you to go, I can't tell you why or where, you'll find out on the way." Flint, Beachhead, Snake Eyes, Stalker, Rock N' Roll, Roadblock, Grunt, Low-Light, Dial-Tone, Dusty, Recondo, Outback and Wild Bill to get 'em in and get 'em out. |

I don't know that I have an "ultimate" team per se, but I do have a favorite group of characters and it's pretty much the original 13. In my Joeverse, after forming in the mid 90s, the Joes have a number of early successes that get Hawk promoted pretty rapidly and enable the team to grow pretty rapidly. This obviously ticks off the Cobra Commander, who has made some pretty powerful friends. Among them are the Crimson Twins, who utilize their vast monetary resources, knowledge of the law and PR savvy to cause a political poop-storm about the legality of the Joe team's actions on their first mission, which was on U.S. soil and technically in violation of Posse Comitatus. Hawk assumes full responsibility, enabling Joe Colton to appoint another field commander for the team members not implicated and keep the larger Joe team intact as a military unit. Hawk gets busted back down to Lt. Col. and is discharged, along with Steeler, Stalker, Grunt, Rock n' Roll, Zap, Short Fuse, Clutch, Grand Slam, Flash, Breaker and Wild Bill. Together they form an independent counter-terrorist consulting company called T-Cell, and Colton pulls some strings to get them on the list of preferred contractors for Homeland Security. Scarlett is reassigned to be their CIA liasion and Snake Eyes, who was already a contractor in my Joeverse, officially joins the team. Under Hawk's leadership, T-Cell becomes the primary foil for Cobra, which is a domestic terror organization that the U.S. would really like to downplay public awareness of for the sake of national morale. Unlike the Joes, who have become an elite special mission force under Colonel Courage, T-Cell can operate without the restrictions or inherent beurocracy of the military weighing them down. Plus, being a government contractor affords them a pretty healthy budget and access to the resources they need to do their jobs. Later on, Duke leaves the Joe team, quits the army and joins T-Cell. Other Joes may follow that path as well. But the team will remain relatively small. |
