As I approach the second year I've had a bathroom torn apart with only 1/4 of the drywall up, it occurs to me that if I mirrored the time I spent customizing figures/looking at GI Joe websites/watching cartoons, I'd have that bathroom done by now.

How much time does everyone spend on Joe-related activities each day or week?

Is there a point at which you feel the need to step away from it or is it so engrained in you that it would be a withdrawal situation?

HMMM that is a good one.

Well just looking about the boards I try to keep it under an hour a day, either when I wake up and have coffie or in the evening when my day is done, maybe two hours on the weekends and days off. I go over from time to time but mostly I keep it there.

I have quit customizeing as it got WAYYY too expenisive to justify and the new designs made it much harder than it used to be (I know how to do it with arm removal, leg removal ect, but I have so much less clutter since I made that desision and feel 100% better and no longer overwhelmed).

BUt there is my ongoing dio/webcomic, which does take up time. I TRY to keep it down to a few hours of photowork on the weekend, but sometimes pictures do require some extra time dependant on what I am doing (ie Iron Man's repulsor blast effect as I do it takes a bit to actually make, but I have gotten the time cut down now). There is of course shooting which is the longest part and is a bit unpredicable. For example I did an outside shot a few days ago and estimated an hour, however the wind kept picking up and knocking down figs, I went 3 hours and had to go back the next day cause I didn't get all of what I wanted. Indoor shots are much easier which is why I try never to do outside shots LOL. Still there is a lot to do and sometimes I can take a whole saturday just shooting (depending on how far ahead I want to get).

I fully admit though I have to watch how much time I spend cause it can get away from me and I have tons of stuff going on all the time that are not Joe/Actionfigure related..

My time can range anywhere from 5-20 hours a week. This year I've been building Dios and touching up customs- a lot of that I don't show.

I spent quite a few hours the other day working on a custom, only to ruin the only pair of Nova Human Torch arms I had. So, that custom got put on indefinite hold until I get another pair.

wow, let's see...

i guess with me, it ranges from 1 hour to days per week...

it's either i'm too busy with other things that I only have an hour or two per week, basically mixmatching parts, creating ideas, but no painting done...

or I get a break from the daily chores of life, and spend hours per day, in a full week, doing painting, one color at a time (which usually means one to dozens of figures being painted at any one time).

i get a lot of unfinished customs this way, but it's the only way I can enjoy doing customs :).

I usually spend a few hours a week on customs. I don't get a whole lot of free time these days! I've been working on the same group of customs for the past three months or so. I've also started customizing a couple of vehicles, which is taking even longer since I have no idea what I'm doing!

past nastification -- Try to see the bathroom job as customizing a room in your home. It may help.

As for myself, I don't really spend that much time customizing anymore. I did do the Volcano Viper Commander and Officer recently, but as much as anything that was the result of a surplus of Volcano-Vipers and a notion that they'd look cool with colored metallic paint. The simple fact is that it's not as easy to disassemble the modern-style G.I. Joe figures as it was the originals, I've hardly been a completist with the line, so I don't really feel all that inspired to customize. That and a general lack of really outstanding ideas. I've thought for a while that some sort of Zanya figure might be cool, but I couldn't quite figure out how to pull it off to my satisfaction, and now, BBTS is saving me the trouble.

As for collecting? Hmmm -- I collect when I can afford it. But my collecting is not restricted to G.I. Joe. I also collect DCUC, Masters of the Universe, some Star Wars, the occasional Power Ranger -- and frankly, none of these lines have been especially easy to turn up lately. About once a month I get together with a friend of mine (who has a car), and we tour the town a bit and see what turns up. And anytime I'm in a Walmart or a Target I make an obligatory check of the toy section, even if that isn't my main reason for being in the store.

Nowhere near as much time as I used to. The last few years I was churning out customs one after the other. I never figured out how I was managing something like 60+customs a year. I suffered serious custom burnout towards the end of October 2010 and it was the beginning of Febeuary this year before I even felt like picking up a scalpel or paintbrush.

Personally, I think it has done me some good.

About four hours a day, depending on vision. Nowadays I alternate the days between custom works, writing, dios, and bitz finding.

These days? Zero. :(

I miss it, but I'm broke and don't have anywhere to put stuff, so I rarely buy anything. I got a Skystriker a couple months ago and I think the last thing I bought before that was a couple of Rattlers in 2008. That's actually the main reason I don't post on here very often -- I have to stay away from places like this and eBay or I'll get the bug again and start blowing my money on things I shouldn't be buying. However, I'm hoping after I get a few expenses taken care of, I'll be able to start buying some cheaper stuff on eBay to customize. I've been wanting to do a Maggot for years now, so that will probably be the first.

Between rearranging the shelves (and playing a little while I do it), looking stuff up the Internet and reading the different boards like here and the Trenches and the Action Man HQ, I'd say between one to four hours a day.
