This will be more of a show than tell review as we're looking at a repaint of the Pursuit of Cobra HISS Tank. This one comes in the 30th packaging (which I didn't take a picture of but is similar in design to the Skysriker).

Image

This is a really cool, futuristic version of the classic HISS Tank and while it came in a really off color originally the black repaint really made this sculpt pop. Done in Cobra Crimson the HISS Tank looks even more striking.

Image

The crimson color is very vibrant without being bright and it blends in with the rest of Cobra's crimson arsenal well without being an exact match to other vehicles. The silver stickers really blend well with the crimson color. At SDCC the Crimson HISS Tank on display featured a large silver Cobra sigil over the cockpit canopy and it looked amazing. I wish we had received that large sticker for the production vehicle but in a cost saving measure we just get the regular sticker sheet only in silver instead of red like with the black HISS.

Image

The Crimson HISS has a new driver in the Crimson Horseman. If I remember correctly people went crazy for this figure when it was shown at JoeCon but honestly I don't see what the big deal is. He's just a repaint of the PoC Firefly figure with a new head. Yes the color scheme works really well here and the new head is very cool but its not anything that breaks new ground.

Image

This new tank comes with all the same weaponry as the black and brown versions. It does have one thing over the other two though in that instead of the Cobra standard it comes with two of Firefly's backpacks with mines. The packs are molded in black and the mines in a bright red. The packs plug into holes on the side of the tank and hold tight. These additions give the Crimson HISS a more field ready look than without and I like this feature a lot. I'll be adding customized packs to my other PoC HISS Tanks.

Image

Overall this is a decent repaint of a great vehicle. If you have the black HISS Tank then you know what you're getting with this one. If you don't have one of these then I suggest seeking out the black version. Its a more classic look and would appeal to more collectors. But if you like the crimson variations of the Cobra Army then this tank will fit in nicely with your collection.

Looks fun. I'd want one for the driver, but that's about it, due to space issues. I'd be temepted to switch canopies--red on black body and vice versa--just to break it up a little. That's my only complaint about the black one, it's a little boring color wise.

A different color on the canopy would look great, I think that is my one gripe on this vehicle, it looks to plain, I think I would prefer a clear canopy but another color would be good too.

I saw Raginspoon added a Gatling gun and a machine gun to his casted parts for those not wanting the cannon/missile launcher on it. http://www.raginspoon.com/weapons.html

Wonder how it would look with the black canopy of the other HISS?

And thanks for the review, MS! It's a lot better looking than I figured it would be.

I never realized it until right now but man that would work great for a Red Shadows vehicle. I don't like as a HISS but as an updated Hyena I think it looks awesome.

I just got this vehicle yesterday, I passed on the previous versions because frome the PICTURES, I didn't like the design. Man, I'm kicking myself for skipping the black one now because this is one bad ass piece of moving artillery! iIs it possible this could somehow equal the coolness of the DTC HISS in my mind? I never would have imagined that happening with any new HISS ever because THAT '05 HISS was the vehicle that made me finally appreciate what the HISS was in many other collectors' minds, when they had the 83 HISS (I never liked it). But it looks like this 30th Anniversary tank turned out to be the biggest surprise like of the year for me. And Crimson Horseman is friggin' rad too, i'm using him as a single character not a member of the CG.

I have one of each and like the design. It's neat as a Crimson HISS. I sort of wish I had spent the cash for that Crimsom helicopter when I had a chance. I was lucky in having bithomas offer get me that Crimson convention set and he asked if I wanted to tack on the other stuff. I just didn't want to splurge. But yeah it is cool and it would be great if the driver was offered on it's own. He'd be neat to use in other vehicles too.

This continues to be my favorite HISS Tank. I have a couple of the black and the custom Python version that PythonViper painted for me but for some reason this crimson tank just looks great. I'd probably pick up a second one if I saw it on shelfs.

Yeaaahhh, this is me at this point. The initial pictures of this new HISS did not impress me, so I passed on it. Then I decided to get the Crimson HISS because, what the heck, the figure looked decently cool, and almost anything "Crimson" will get my attention.

The only thing I didn't like about this entire package was all the silver little "scrapes" on the Crimson Horseman, whom I have since repainted. BTW, there appear to be two versions out there -- ones with red knee pads, and ones with black -- just for anyone who wants to be that nitpicky about it.

What I'd really like to find now is the Black HISS, but you don't even see them at Ross anymore, and I know that they weren't ALL black. I know there was a way to tell -- that didn't involve actually opening the box, but I don't recall what it was.

It is the number embossed on the bottom of the box with the production datecode. There is a thread about that somewhere around here but I can't recall what it was.

I got two of these for Christmaas and love them. I would like one or two more, but want it in black. I wished I would've found the black one at retail, and am crossing my fingers for another black version when the movie comes out!

I saw this at TRU over the weekend. But due to limited shelf room and vehicles eating up a good deal of space, I may pass on this one and get the movie blue version that's coming out(which has an armored Cobra Commander). I do know the movie one will be retooled with plastic treads(which I think may be a bonus in later years, if the rubber treads start splitting on these) and that new back gun bucket like the original HISS had.

I never saw the black one, I don't think, but plenty of the brown one.
