Ok, due to fluctuations of the time space continuum, I was able to go to 3 Super Walmarts North and West of NYC. All of them had Joes.
Where my "local" "regular" Walmarts do not carry them. In fact the Monroe/Woodberry Commons Walmart had the most Joes (wave 1 renegades) I've seen in a store in years. So I'm wondering if Joes are only being carried by Super-Walmarts.

I have two Super Wal-Marts in the same town not far from me. One of them carries Joes, one does not. It's the same with Marvel U.

My local WM- which is the only nearby store that carries any toys- doesn't stock Joes anymore. Or really anything besides whatever's being backed by a major movie and even that's iffy. They do stock MLP but that sells out almost lightning fast and isn't restocked often.

Walmart doesn't really care about toys anymore, I don't think. I tried talking to the store manager, he seemed disinterested. I can't really buy the idea that toys are a "loss leader" for stores because if stores really lost that much money on them they'd abandon toys totally(stores aren't in the business to actively lose money), and given what little it costs to manufacture and what little they pay per unit, I can't see how they're losing money, barring stores just demanding stuff that turns out to be pegwarmers and not learning from it.

It boggles the mind how Walmart chooses which store gets a brand & which store doesn't.
I have a Super Walmart which stopped carrying Joes right after the RoC line. They also stopped stocking Marvel Universe for a while. I don't know if it was because of my constant transferring of pegwarming Joes & MU from the one that did have them. However they finally did restock new Joes & MU over the summer. They never got any Marvel comic packs back. Now the store no longer carries DCUC. They also don't have any of those Xmas exclusives.
At the same time this store got those brands back. Another regular Walmart had Joes & MU on clearance. Yep they no longer carry those lines anymore.
Luckily for me I live in a large urban area so I can hit quite a few Walmarts compared to some other people here.

OK I was just at my Super Walmart.
Nothing new.
Yet someone had the bright idea to put McFarlanes sports picks on the Joe pegs!!!
I've seen this at the other WM nearby. For some reason they deem it necessary to use Joe space as overstock for the other pegs!
I of course fixed that.
It is another reason I don't believe my area has any Hasbro reps. If they did they would have surely fixed this already.

With my experence with Hasbro reps, no they wouldn't fix xomething like that. Generally speaking the reps I have met have consintrated on one line (generally SW or Marvel).

What I've heard is there are basically two planograms available to Walmarts. One has all the big lines (including GI Joe and MU) the other is pretty much movie stuff.

Smaller volume stores seem to default to the fewer products planogram. Talking to the manager seems like it sometimes works.

Sometimes. Mine acts like the only people who buy toys are kids and "man children" as he put it and seemed uninterested in discussing it. I wouldn't be surprised if my store outright eliminates toys eventually, they seem to be doing their best not to maintain the department.

I bought this up to the store mgr and the visiting District Mgr and mentioned how many people on various boards are PUT OUT with some stores carrying GI Joe's and MU and some not. The store mgr didn't know anything about it and the DM just shook her head and said yes its true but hearing me tell her about various boards and people gripping about walmart and inability of carrying toys people want she was going to try and take it up the chain... here's hoping she does..

Never know. The hisstank boards have a fair bit of chatter from folks who seem to have had luck [LASER BLAST] at walmart.

Considering the Walmart most conveniently located for me has been sitting on what looks like the same
Stock of pirates of the carribean, wave 1 Thor and green lantern toys all summer and fall, while the Fred Meyer nearby has run through multiple waves of GI joes and later wave Thor toys, they've missed sales.

And if you're going to sit on a stock of movie product, it makes no sense to not go ahead and sit on some product that has a collector base, too. A case is an $85 risk, who cares if it buys you some goodwill.

I miss having a Fred Meyer close by -- I bought all my Joes there as a kid (well, Freddy's and Bi-Mart) - and every time I'm back in Oregon I find everything I want there. It's the first place I found any 25A figs (luckily I was on vacation when they were released), and hell - even the one in Fairbanks, Alaska had a Lady Sif and a comic-colored Hydra Attack Trooper on the pegs when I was there last month.

Pissed that there are 2 Fred Meyer stores in Fairbanks and none in Colorado. Freddy's will always pwn the crap out of WM.

WalMart blows.

The Fred Meyer thing was really perplexing me. Name is familiar, but I know we don't have any here. But in looking online, I see it is part of the store chain we call Kroger here. Kroger is mainly a grocery store, but the one by me became a marketplace - kind of a poor man's Target in terms of size. But it has been really well loaded with toys since it opened.

Also, it sounded familiar because inside of my Kroger is a Fred Meyer Jewelry store. Interesting. Wonder if THEY have Joes. lol
