I snagged the Field Manual on DarkJedi's glowing review and I LOVE IT.

Can you guys recommend some similar books that are out there and worth the purchase? Especially interested in behind the scenes information... were the Declassified guys working on a book or did I imagine that?

So yeah, would love to hear about more resource books like this for the toyline or toons. I've got the old comic year books (the newer ones weren't that impressive to me), but I'm open to comic resources as well.

Also, the Field Manual mentions a similar project for the Transformer toon (The Ark?), anyone know if this is as good as the Field Manual?

Thanks guys!

I'm sure you're familiar with bellamo's ultimate guide to gi joe, saw it on eBay for 10.99 shipped today (it was 25 bucks in the book store).

The Ark and Ark 2 are by the same guy and I've heard they are even better. I think I remember hearing that is actually his interest and he came across the Joe stuff by accident.

Bellomo's Ultimate Guide to GI Joe is great, but geared towards the figures with most of the background info available for the hey day years and not so much the later releases. His Totally Tubular 80's Toys book is also a great all in one book. Not overwhelming with depth but the quantity and quality is really good.

James Kavanaugh aka Kuukuuson also released the R.A.H.C. A Guide which covers the modern o-ring figures.

The JoeDeclassified guys put together convention magazines that are always packed with info. All the way to the right on their front page under JoeDeclassified Magazines are issues 0-4. Since they are pic heavy it might take a while for each issue to load. The latest one from New Orleans, which used International Joes as a running theme, hasn't been added yet. http://www.joedeclassified.com/?page_id=98

I've got numerous GIJOE books I use as reference material.

There were the three Action Figure Archive compilations

-Official 30th Anniversary Salute to GIJOE by Santelmo
-the Bellomo guides
-Complete Encyclopedia to GIJOE by Santelmo
-GIJOE Collectibles by Kilian/Griffith
-RoC Mission Dossier
-Now You KNow Unofficial Guide to GIJOE TV & Comics by Pearson
-GIJOE vs Cobra The Essential Guide by Hidalgo
