I've been staying away from these for the most part. I have several Hasbro made 12" figures that are fine enough to me, but Hasbro never made a Viper. The Sideshow Viper just went up for pre-order. The exclusive version includes an extra head and some other stuff. It's limited to 700.

I couldn't hold back and ordered. It'll be an early birthday gift for me. It looked like I was order 351 if I read that correctly. But anyway, I figured I'd pimp their figure cause this one is really nice. High dollar as is most of their stuff, but really nice. Sideshow does some nice work on those guys, that's for certain, but their shipping charges are ridiculous.

One of these days perhaps I'll be able to snag their Beachhead off of eBay or someplace though...

Each figure they release gets better and better. This Viper is lookin' pretty sweet. But even at this scale, the red just looks bad.

I keep going back and forth about whether I should collect these guys or not. The problem is my collectors' mentality: if I buy one, I have to buy the rest. And at some point I would have to look into the mirror and admit to myself I have spent over $1000 for a modest collection of 8 figures. I just can't bring myself to do that.... the self-mocking would be too brutal!

I got the exclusive version of Cobra Commander in blue witht he jacket and that was all. I thought about getting a Cobra Trooper but ended up passing since I do have versions of that that Hasbro did. Witht he Viper, I just couldn't turn it down. The patches alone will be cool to scan and use.

I don't own any Sideshow stuff but that one is very tempting. I just don't know. I am not really into high end stuff like that. I am not sure I want to get started given the price.

I have five Sideshow Joes, and to be honest while there are some things I don't like about them, I find them worth the price to me. I wanted to get the 6" Snake-eyes Statue from a few years ago but at $55 it was too expensive for me for something that small, while Sideshow has gone from around $45 for a figure to $125 give or take I have far more options for display. Side show has been a special collectable to me, I have several figures from multiple lines from them Starting with the Buffy I bought when they started with the Pop culture stuff, I buy the ones I really want and it helps me decide while I like a figure I don't have to have them all.

I've generally regarded the Sideshow items as -- very nicely done, but overpriced and certainly wwwaaaayyyy out of my budget, and honestly, nothing that I really had to have in my collection. This is the first one that I've really wished I could afford. I always liked the Viper better than the basic Cobra troopers anyway, and this is extremely impressive.

I wonder what Sideshow could do with a Battle Android Trooper?

Yeah I only went for it because it's a birthday present. It's 2 months early, but still. I wanted it and was really thinking hard about it, but I was pretty well going to forget it.

The Battle Android Trooper though, if it wasn't $300, I'd really want that. I can imagine the stuff they probably could do with that one.

Guess they're doing that one so they can make the swamp ski as a dio thing. That would be pretty cool. Guess I'll have to keep an eye on Zartan too... I really hate to get too many of these.

You shut your yappers, the both of you. Nobody wants any BATs. Nobody wants to spend $300 dollars on BATs he doesn't have. Don't you go giving them ideas by suggesting it. :twisted:
