1998, all repaints, some of them in cool 3-packs.
Let everyone know which figure is your least favorite (and please explain why)!

I didn't want to cop out and say they were all good and not pick one. They were all good figures, but the question was "least favorite" so I picked Vypra. Mostly because I really never liked the Jinx tooling although this version was much improved. But the Cobra arctic set from this year is among my favorite figures and how can you go wrong with blue and grey Vipers?

I can't pick any figure from this list in good conscience, so I'm abstaining from this vote.

I went with Night Creeper simply because I couldn't quite get my head around the idea of an arctic ninja. Firefly and Snow Serpent were excellent in this set, I liked the blue and grey Vipers, and I wasn't about to pick on Vypra since I came up with her name and file card. Although I would've liked to have seen a Cobra emblem on her uniform.

I went with Vypra because the character does little for me, and because she has a y in her codename for no reason, and because the name is a horrible pun.

Although, honorable mention goes to the Cobra Trooper and Officer solely for their horrible, horrible, horrible filecards.

I think the Firefly mold really doesn't look that great in any color other than its original. I'm not saying an arctic Firefly was a bad idea, just that the execution was pretty boring to me.

I picked Vypra simply because she didn't convince me she was a new character. Maybe if they mixed parts more, added a Cobra emblem...a new head sculpt would've been too much to ask (they wasted the new head on an ugly Daina). The arctic Cobras were a bit bland, actually, and could've used some cobra markings to liven them up.

At the very least use the same lower legs as Movie Edition Sonya Blade, so she wouldn't be a jeep driver wearing oriental slippers!

I sent that name to Hasbro almost as a joke. I figured after them giving Alpine the real name of "Albert M. Pine" and Cutter the real name of "Skip A. Stone", I could "give something back" with "Ann A. Conda". Figures -- they loved it... As for the "y" in Vypra -- hey, the name had to clear the copyright hurdle somehow. I was asked to come up with four character names. This was the one that was used. Trust me -- it could've been worse... :shifty:

Maybe if you spelled the last name a little more differently to make the pun a little less blatant. :p
And as Sean_C said, the figure just doesn't feel like a new character. It's Jinx in black with grey camo sprayed around. Complete with her ninja gear. It's Jinx in a night ops outfit.

But her filecard is at least decent. Not like the horrible, horrible, horrible filecards on the Cobra Trooper and Officer.

Jay's not kidding about the Officer/Trooper file cards, but boy are those cool repaints, I didn't know those were Officer/Troopers, I thought they were just another Viper version. At least the file card answered my question of Cobra's rank structure as far as Vipers vs. Blue Shirts I'm going to look for more of those repaints.

Despite that Vypra is just a repaint of Jinx, I like her colours, blue, black and grey just appeal to me and I've used that same combo of colour to camo paint some of my vehicles.

I went with Night Creeper, simply because I think it's a stupid looking figure, it doesn't look like a ninja to me.

That mold of Firefly has got to be the most used mold for a single character, but I love the mold and think it looks good in any of its releases (except the one that has cantaloupes painted on it), Firefly is my favorite character, and I just wouldn't feel right voting for him on "least favorite" list. Although ti's not the same mold, the 25th versions even have the same look, with the crossed bandoliers and the thigh rigs.

She's not a bad toy per se. She's just a bad choice. A bad Vypra. Ninja jeep driver or something... she just ends up looking like Jinx in a night ops attire.

Night Creeper's a cool figure. White or not, at least this one was designed with stealth in mind, unlike the original magenta version. Another stealthy Night Creeper wouldn't come along for another six years.

I like all of these figures. In fact, the Snow Serpent is one of my all-time favorites. I always liked this mold more than the version one. And, I have to say, I loved Vypra as a kid (yeah, I was ten when these came out).

I always thought it was weird that people talked about how easy it was to find the Cobra sets. I NEVER saw either of the sets, and still have a hard time believing the people when they say they could find the trooper pack into 2000.

I'm gathering you were involved in the re-releases...? I didn't know about this, I'm guess you've been asked about it a million times, but I'd love to hear more!
