I know it was announced recently that the "Past & Present" set featuring Snow Job was on Target.Com. Well, today I found it AT a Target store. It was on an end cap with some Transformers and Star Wars exclusives. So if you're looking for this very cool item, don't restrict your search to the main aisle. |

Yep, I saw them the other day too. Same set up... back endcap, along with some exclusive TF Fallen figures and exclusive TIE Fighters and Wedge's X-Wing. |

We saw those Saturday night, and my son immediately went into "I want that" mode. So I played the "You have a birthday and Christmas coming up" card, knowing I'll probably pick it up for him for his birthday.... The "Past" version of Snow Job's outfit is really, really white. |

Sort of one of the reasons I'm glad he made it into this set. And Gaigaan-Dnok, you mention some interesting merchandise. That's not what I saw today. The Target where I saw the Past & Present set had TF Universe "Leo Prime" (if I'd had some extra $$$...) and the Star Wars stuff looked to be Clone Wars figure multi-packs. |

I never had Snow Job as a kid but I did have a Polar Battle Bear that got a LOT of playtime. And I love the new RoC Rockslide so getting this might be a no-brainer if I see it in stores. Or maybe I'll ask Santa for one for Christmas. I've been good this year... well better than last year anyway ![]() What's the pricepoint on this set? |

nice minty PBB is great. I hope the night Raven is the next past and present set. which makes me wonder what are these sets for exactly? There is no way they are aimed at "kids" I mean what would a kid want with an old O ring joe and an 80s snow mobile.... If they are aimed at collectors is it to convince of how cool the modern designs are? I have about 10 rockslides still at my target, and seeing it next to the PBB doesn't really make me want more. |

Yeah I woulda given 24 for Snow Job and the PBB. Now I gotta figure out what to do with a Rockslide when I get it. Hmmm... |

I opened up my set the other day. The (ahem) Polar Battle Bear is slightly different than the original. It uses the modified body from the Rockslide. So the leg/foot area is smoothed out to fit less articulate figures. The engine cover now has 2 pegs instead of 2 tabs. Neither of these are big deals. The missles that attach to the skis however are a problem. They were always prone to fall off the originals. But this one has them litterally popping off. I had to glue mine on. The new Rockslide is okay, just not my thing so I gave it my son. But I was really suprised how much power the missle launchers had. I pointed one vertical at it easyily went 8-10 feet in the air. I told him to not shoot anyone with them. Then he shot me. Little punk. |

I'd honestly forgotten that the Polar Battle Bear had been remade into the original Rock Slide during the newsculpt era. Finally called up a picture of it. The camo color scheme isn't too bad, but SHEESH that missile launcher. This version is close enough to the original for me. Haven't really tried to fit the missiles on yet, but as has been pointed out, that's nothing a little glue can't remedy. The modern Rockslide is an interesting enough vehicle, as well. No real complaints there. However, the point is raised as to who this set is for. One has to assume that Hasbro isn't planning a major return of the original G.I. Joe figures, so there wouldn't be enough out there to really grab a kid's attention. And those who focus on the original G.I. Joes might or might not be interested in the modern line. Maybe it's a -- father-son sort of thing? Dad keeps the original version, and the kid gets the movie-based one? And yes, the price tag is $24.99. Figure depending on your local sales tax it's going to be a little past $26.00 by the time you get through. Honestly, I don't consider that too bad for two good vehicles, accompanied by two figures, one of which is a superb WHITE redo of an original figure for which, as I mentioned, nice white versions probably aren't easily located these days. |

I believe (and don't quote me on this) that Hasbro intends these as a sort of tribute to the history of the brand and is aiming these sets at both collectors and old fans that haven't picked up a Joe since the 80's as a way to introduce them to the new line. A sort of "remember this? well here's the new version we're making" kinda thing. |

Any idea what other vehicles are going to come out in this line? I can imagine the Armadillo tank, as that was also released, albeit modified, in the RoC line (can't remember what it's called). Maybe the Cobra CLAW. I can't see them doing anything larger that a HISS or VAMP for this line, though a Night Raven set would be the shiznits, but that set would have to $60 or $70. A Skystriker set would be cool too, but the last fighter they released for the Joes was the Thunderwing. Snow Job was #3 on my list of favorite figures, I always took him skiing with me, I never had a wipe out when he was with me. The PBB was my first vehicle, I bought it from a friend who got it for his birthday, he didn't collect G.I.*JOE. At the time all I had was Scarlett and Rock & Roll and those two on the PBB took out more than their fare share of troops from a galaxy far far away. I can't get myself to buy this set though, because I'm sort of a weird completest, if I got Snow job and the PBB, I'd have to go out and find Frostbite, the Snow Cat, Blizzard, Iceberg and all the other winter troops. Plus I live in Phoenix, I'd have to drive two hours north to have decent play time..er, uh, picture time with them. |
