is there any kinda Joe games out there that are kinda like D&D in nature, i guess role playing style where you set out a troops of your guys you set out on a mission and you can play out what happens to them?

There was one created by a fan that was hosted on either yojoe or the pit a decade ago. I have it saved on my back up server - I'll look for it tonight.

that's cool man.

yeah i was thinking i guess if you wanted to get your own customs in it you'd really have to make your own one, sure it would be pretty elaborate to do so.

Personally, I'd love to see a World of Warcraft type game based on G.I.*Joe. I know there's several games out there that are military based, but G.I.*Joe is like 110% military, real to the actual military, but the extra 10% is just that extra littlebit of fantasy it has been given, like laser rifles, giant tracked command centers and a ninja corps on both sides.

i just think it would be cool if you could pick like 10 of your guys and send them on a recon mission in the jungle or something, and it just be like a D & D thing where they go on a mission.

heres a link someone left in the post i made a while back it shows a guy using chapmei stuff and his is a larger scale war game. but its pretty kool
http://chapmeitoys.proboards.com/index. ... thread=226
i would think any set of simple war games rules would work but thats the problem simple. the gamesworkshop stuff is very complicated. i found a few rules on the net that are kind of simple looking for free wargames rules. but some of them are way to simple.http://afcqb.netfirms.com/ i found these rules and they looked pretty kool simple, but not overly simple. if your looking for more RPG table top stuff. then maybe just use some set of modern rules from any game. :) if i had more people interested in my area i would try out more rules. maybe i will con my brothers into helping me hash out some rules. later glenn.

Here's a couple of threads I found in the search database with ideas for Joe RPG wargames.

viewtopic.php?f=10&t=14994&p=167515&hilit=Joe+rpg+game#p167515 and viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4648&p=73367#p73367

One had a good idea on a set of books that can be used that is inspired by modern military stuff. Only prob is if you used vehicles is that not ALL joe/cobra vehicles have a real life coresponding (sp) vehicle out there.

well i'm not sure if i get how those games are played. AFCQB, what do you use a 20 sided dice or something, i didn't see any rules to it, maybe i missed it. Same with the chap mei.

I think the good ol AD&D system is simple and effective enough for a Joe RPG.
With the recent D20 books I think they have modern weapons adapted to the system.

Instead of miniature, use your Joes and voila.

have fun!

There is always Necromunda. The rules are based around running a gang in a futuristic city. Very adaptable to what we use. It has a great campaign system and is based on 40k skirmish rules. Most of all its free (for now).

I'm thinking of hybridizing the rules for some Terminator vs resistance games.

huh, that necromunda might work, wonder if they got stuff if you bring a ninja into it.

they also have the game inquisitor. its based on a larger mini there for the ranges are longer. and they have death cult assassins. the inquisitor game was what i planned on using, but the games workshop games are complicated. a good thing is there free :)

In the last couple of times this conversation has come around, I pointed out that G.U.R.P.S. was created for things just like this.
