Playmates really stepped up to plate on this line, it's like 40 times improved over the horridly crap lines from Terminator and Star Trek from this past summer.

These are actually made by Mattel. I see potential here, doubt I'll use too much of the bodies, but heads, gear, and various body parts are definitely useful.

Always tough to tell what the figures might be like in person but I do want to pick some up to see if they would mix in well with my Joes or not. The blue guys would be nice for a little dio set up if Hasbro gets around to releasing a nice Nightcrawler figure, sort of a tribute to early run of Excalibur.

If nothing else I've at least found Wild Bill's new ride.

Aren't the blue aliens in the movie supposed to be around 10' tall? So, those figures won't be able to provide fodder (although, what always bothered me in SW is the majority of aliens are all the same height) Otherwise, some good stuff there.

You've thought about crippling wild bill too huh? Glad i'm not the only one.

These figures look pretty cool...almost like mattell's best designers were working on this line instead of the smaller DC figures line.

Edit: I have a bad feeling from looking at the pictures. Most of them aren't holding the guns in their hands. Hopefully they'll be able to do that & look somewhat natural holding them.

These look good. That is, if Hasbro didn't exist. They just don't compare to other 1:18 offerings. It doesn't help that the movie looks stupid and every sci-fi thing in it feels like a rip-off of Halo, Alien, Starship Troopers and The Matrix. The vehicles do look cool, but that's about it.

Having seen some of these in person at SDCC, they are surprisingly nice considering who is making them. The biggest gems though are those vehicles. The Scorpion Gunship is actually properly scaled. No undersized tail, cockpit, or anything. So, unlike their Hunter Killer, their A-10, and even Hasbro's recent helicopter, this thing actually looks like a proper 1/18.

Not to harp on it, but the A-10 and Hunter Killer (the Terminator and Star Trek 3 34th lines) were made by Playmates. These figures are made by Mattel. Which actually makes them seem that much nicer considering that Mattel's only other foray into 1 18th at this point is DC Infinite Heroes, which is a pretty crappy line.

agree the vehicles look promising, and I remember reading elsewhere that some people thought they'd fit the modern Joes perfectly. The wheelchair is a must have also. The figures themselves, I'm less excited about, though it looks like the alien figures are fairly well made, and might have more articulation than the human figures. With swivel wrists, the arms would make for nice custom fodder, but it seems like they are all lacking there. So that, for me, leaves the heads. Sigourney Weaver is a decent likeness, but I also don't mind the cast version I have from the snap toys line.

'Bout f'in time on that wheelchair! I'm surprised Marauder John didn't beat 'em to it!

Scoping out the Sigourney fig... the articulation doesn't look so lacking to me. The joints on the upper thighs are distracting, to put it kindly, but it should offer a full range of motion. She's got swivel knees, which even the current Joes don't have. Can't tell on wrist articulation, but the other figs don't offer much hope there.

I'm sure the price points will kill any potential interest I have in this line, tho :cry:

Vehicles look cool, but compared to Hasbro's 1:18 offerings, the figures are just abysmal. Sculpting is awful, paint apps are nearly non-existent, and they look like toys instead of people. No thanks.

The wheelchair is cool, and as I said, I do like the vehicles, but there is absolutely nothing appealing about those figures, not even for potential fodder.
