I'm not sure if one these hasmade the rounds but I just got to thinking about what make a mere collector and what makes a customizer. Feel free to add your own.

1. It's been less than a hour since the Crimson Attack Helicopter you won on eBay has been out fo the box and it's already dissasembled, cleaned, masked off and prepped for paint.

2. You like that figure's arms and wonder how they'd look on that figure's torso with that other figure's legs.

3. Having a box full of body parts in your closet DOESN'T mean you're a psycotic serial killer.

4. You own a set of eyeglass repair screwdrivers but you don't wear glasses.

5. When speaking about a figure, you add "version #" to it's name.

6. Being sold "complete with gun and backpack" isn't as important as "it's thumbs and crotch are intact"

7. You've ever recieved a free Marauder Gun Runner weapon for free with your order.

8. You place an order at Joe Armory and Joe Parts on the same day, imagining that there is a race between the two, and wonder who is going to win, and actually wish you could see the two of them duke it out, just to prove how badly they want your business.

9. When trying to find a figure's head, you have eighteen differnt sources to check.

10. Your computer desk comes complete with mixing trays, drop cloth, masking tape, a Dremmel tool and an assortment of X-acto blades.

You know you might be a customizer when find yourself reading the dictionary (ies) cover to cover for codenames.
(done that)

You might be a customizer when you hear a certain word and start writing the filecard in your head. "Billy was working as a repo man in LA..."

(done that)

You might be a customizer when you spend hours looking for the perfect codename.

(done that)

You might be a customizer if you:

1-look through magazines
2-watch movies/tv
3-read books
4-see other media

and think, "How could I tie _____ into the GIJOE universe?"

(done that)

You might be a customizer if you eagily anticipate new movies release toy tie-ins just for the line of action figures and vehicles to customize.

(done that)

You might be a customizer if...you can come up with one of these answers.

Done a good bit of those. I don't remember the last time my computer desk was free of parts...

You might be a customizer if you scavenge dialysis pump parts for a dio. :shifty:

You know you're a customizer when

One Man's trash is another man's parts for a custom HISS.

You actually have a use for Dr. Link Talbot.

You have ever had a finger stuck to a Joe from too much glue.

Your finger tips are a mesh of scars from scalpel blades

You keep a scouring pad in the bathroom to clean epoxy clay residue off your hands

You spend hours scouring YoJoe/Rebelscum to work out the perfect mix of parts

You spend $400 dollars in 3 months on base figures for a single set

You look at a toy and think "What could I turn that into?"

You buy a figure just to take its head off

You get half a dozen figures and five minutes after they arrive/you get home, there are body parts all over the floor

- you've made a piece of jewelry out of a GI Joe accessory.

- you've commandeered the only air conditioner in the house for the "customizing room" because humidity and ceiling fans destroy the painting process.

Some of my favorite people are action figures.

You buy a huge figure lot to get small pieces to work on your custom figure....
....then realize, what are you going to do with the spare parts you don't need.

You spend hours at a time mixing paint colors....
.... only not to have it match with the color you want.

Then you finally paint the figure...
... only then do you realize you forgot to prime it.
then try to remove the paint,
only proves to be difficult to remove
...so the custom project gets tossed in the fodder bin.

Then you realized all the time you wasted was for naught. :-/ Hrumph!

So guys, the figure can still be salvaged, right? ;-)

You know you're a customizer when...

- You spend more time at flea markets than your wife does...

- Your son's action figure collection is made up of figures you've stripped the pockets, pouches accessories, holsters off of...

- Your Knowledge of the word "Alyosha" has nothing to do with History...

- Heating cups of water in the Microwave has nothing to do with tea...

- Your son wonders where you got your toys from, cause they're not in stores...

- The Phrase " I just got a bag of heads in the mail" doesn't creep you out at all...

- if you know the owners of Tri-gate Creations, Broken Arrow Toys, Joearmory, or Marauder Gun Runners Personaly...

- if you own more than four of those white plastic bin drawers, and they're all in one room...

- If you can identify toy parts by site immediately....
