As suggested in the main thread by PoetFlint, we're thinking of assembling a simple group diorama shot for this year's picnic.

MacGyver suggested the end shot of the G.I. Joe cartoon theme song of Season 1 (Sunbow):

http://www.joetoonarchive.com/displayim ... m=6&pos=82

And the end shot of the theme song of Season 2 (Sunbow):

http://www.joetoonarchive.com/displayim ... m=7&pos=82

Please check out both pics linked above before deciding.

However, if there is insufficient interest, we will drop this activity from the itinerary, since it will take a group effort to assemble the figures/vehicles.

If you plan to attend this year's picnic in Pottsville, PA, please vote.

Thanks,

Blitzkrieg

Awesome! Those are major components and if we have those it's a cinch, if there's enough interest. I'm certain I could contribute some figures. Count on my Sunbowed Shipwreck, but kiddo has others. Ideas on the flag background? Also it'd be great to get a clearer/bigger picture to get the poses right.

See my post at the top of this thread. MacGyver was kind enough to find the links.

I was thinking of this also...does someone have a decent American Flag? If not...I'm due for a new one and will pick one up eventually...but this could be my motivation to do so.

Also...the GI Joe logo below it...I figured we could use one of the sound boxes from the five packs.

Let me know how that sounds.

OK..something else I was thinking...do we do ARAH or 25th? They should probly all be the same.

I like the soundbox idea, but given the scale of the thing will those be too small? Maybe someone with time and artistic inkling could draw it?

I don't have a decent American flag handy. Unless someone else offers one, if you could pick one up within the next month, that would be great.

I agree with the sound box idea. It may not be the largest logo, but it is the easiest to obtain. I can provide the sound box that I used from the Joe vs. Cobra Feud.

I think we have to do ARAH, since two of the characters in the shot, Airtight and Footloose, do not have 25th Anniversary figures yet, unless someone has made a 25th custom of both characters in the meantime.

The scale of the sound box may be a somewhat small, but I would be pleasantly surprised if someone had the time to draw a G.I. Joe logo to scale with just about a month to go before the picnic. The sound box is a quick fix, unless someone else volunteers to draw a larger logo in the meantime.

To ensure that we have all of the pieces we need to build the diorama and that I've identified all of the Joes in the shot correctly, I've written a list of "supplies" below along with who will be bringing the piece/supply. I will update this list as people volunteer to bring items.

Background
American Flag - Apac (?)
Logo - Blitzkrieg (sound box)

Vehicles
Armadillo - Apac
Skystriker - Apac (with spares from PoetFlint and Toplessjeep)

Joes (from left to right)
Quick Kick
Snake Eyes V2
Barbecue

On the Skystriker
Dusty
Airtight (in cockpit)
Breaker (?)

Lady Jaye
Bazooka
Flint
Alpine

In the Armadillo
Footloose

Gung Ho
Shipwreck - MacGyver
Roadblock V1

If I've incorrectly identified any Joes, please let me know and I will revise the list.

Which style Joes are we using? I can bring most of them either way. I have the Footloose from a few years ago and we could use him but I don't have the exclusive Airtight.

As per my previous post, I feel we need to go with ARAH style. As you mentioned for the DTC (new sculpt) style, certain figures such as Airtight are difficult (costly) to obtain. In addition, other DTC figures such as Roadblock and Gung-Ho were not created in the classic (animated) style to match the pic.

We can go with the 25th Anniversary sculpt figures if someone has created customs to fill in the spots for the "missing" Joes.

There has been no activity in this thread for nearly a month. Unless we scramble to fill in all of the gaps needed for this diorama by May 25th (Noon), I am removing this project from the itinerary. I don't want Apac to haul out his Armadillo and Skystriker for nothing (same goes for MacGyver and her Shipwreck custom).
