But you know joe would only be on for like one episode a day, or worse just on the weekends.

Interesting. Looks like Hasbro is going to be taking a 50% stake in the Discovery Kids Network (I'm not even sure I get that on my Basic Cable lineup).

Hasbro says they'll be developing new programming based around a lot of their established properties, of which G.I.Joe and Transformers are two of the ones listed.

Personally, I'd be just as happy to see some of the older incarnations brought back for re-airing. There's no shortage of existing material out there, between G.I.Joe, CERTAINLY Transformers, and numerous other Hasbro properties of the 1980's and 1990's. And if they have access to former Kenner properties, or Tonka properties -- well, it wouldn't make me terribly upset to see M.A.S.K. and Spiral Zone back on the air!

My biggest concern is I wonder how much say Discovery will have as far as the nature of the programming. G.I.Joe and Transformers aren't exactly the most PC, eco-friendly, "educational" programs around. Can Joe get along with Bindi? :shifty:

I think this is really cool for the 10% of America that will be able to watch it, much like Wolverine and the X-Men and the new Iron Man cartoon that are only on that obscure Nickelodeon channel. It will be interesting to hear more info as it unfolds.

This is sort of what I've been expecting. I won't be the least bit surprised to hear the announcement of a new Joe cartoon - a KIDS' cartoon, not Resolute - before long.

It's why I'm pessimistically doubtful about the future of Resolute.

Yeah. It's like Nickelodeon Toons or something. I get it at home with DirecTV but in my apartment at school, I only have basic cable and I'm not even sure if Comcast digital offers the channel. It isn't as obscure as the Disney Toons channel though, which shows the 90s Marvel cartoons, which is pretty neat.

Also, Iron Man debuted last week, I believe. It's about a teenage Tony Stark, and most of what made him a compelling character like the Demon in a Bottle storyline can't really be told in teen form, so it just makes him a rich Peter Parker. Of course, that's just what I've heard from a few others, I haven't been able to see it yet.

That's awesome news! Between this and the positive response to Resolute, I'd say a new Joe 'toon is a virtual guaranteed lock. It's impossible to say what format it will follow, but I suspect they'll wait on response to the movie before making any firm commitment.

At any rate, it's probably safe to say that the old show will be returning. They've got a lot of programming hours to fill!

I was excited to hear about this. Hopefully this channel will be available for the masses. I basically pay for every channel my cable system carries , so I should get this. I have all of those various kids networks, but I must say that I don't pay too much attention to them. I could only dream that this channel would show not only new Joe and Transformer toons, but also the classic ones as well.

That's pretty much right. I saw a couple of episodes of Iron-Man this morning and it's just not very good. Poor CG animation and teen Tony make it a bit weak. It's not Tony Stark, it's some teenager with a fancy mech suit.
