So we've all seen the deck of cards Hasbro gave out for the 25th anniversary. You know, the one with pictures of the figures on it? The one that everyone said was a hint at what figures they would be releasing? Well here we are, nearly 2 years later and the 25th line going on hiatus. So, if the deck of cards was a hint at what was in store, how accurate was it? Let's find out. Jokers / Tomax & Xamot - comic pack figures Spades Ace of Spades / Snake-eyes w/ Timber - single carded figure 2 of Spades / Spirit in brown and green - no figure 3 of Spades / Wild Bill in blue - we can call this one the comic pack even if it's not totally accurate 4 of Spades / Torpedo in orange - SRO figure 5 of Spades / Rock 'n' Roll in v.2 colors - no exact figure but the comic pack comes close, 6 of Spades / Snow Job in camo - no figure (the movie Snow Job w/ vehicle doesn't count) 7 of Spades / Stalker in yellow camo - DVD figure 8 of Spades / Shipwreck in black and white - comic pack figure 9 of Spades / Beachhead in gray and black camo - no figure 10 of Spades / Roadblock v.2 - single pack figure Jack of Spades / commando black Snake-eyes - single pack figure Queen of Spades / Lady Jaye - single pack figure King of Spades / Flint - single pack figure Spades total 4 misses and 9 hits, not bad so far considering these were mostly repaints Hearts Ace of Hearts / Storm Shadow v.2 - single card figure 2 of Hearts / silver logo Cobra Trooper - single card figure 3 of Hearts / blue HISS Driver(Rip-it) - vehicle driver figure 4 of Hearts / Major Bludd - 7-pack figure finally got it right 5 of Hearts / Crimson Shadow Guard - no figure 6 of Hearts / Firefly - single card figure 7 of Hearts / Buzzer - single card figure 8 of Hearts / Zartan - 2nd single card version 9 of Hearts / Cobra Officer - single card figure (even though the card has a red logo) 10 of Hearts / DDP Serpentor - single card figure Jack of Hearts / Destro - single card figure Queen of Hearts / Baroness - 5-pack figure King of Hearts / battle helmet Cobra Commander - 5-pack figure Hearts total one miss and 12 hits, all iconic versions so it's no surprise these are mostly hits Clubs Ace of Clubs / ninja Snake-eyes - DVD figure is close and with all the versions of SE I'm calling this a hit 2 of Clubs / Spirit - single card figure 3 of Clubs / Wild Bill - single card figure 4 of Clubs / Torpedo - single card figure 5 of Clubs / Rock 'n' Roll - single card figure 6 of Clubs / Snow Job - single card figure 7 of Clubs / Stalker - single card figure 8 of Clubs / Shipwreck - single card figure 9 of Clubs / Beachhead - single card figure 10 of Clubs / Roadblock - 5-pack figure Jack of Clubs / Gung-ho - 5-pack figure Queen of Clubs / Scarlett - 5-pack figure King of Clubs / Duke - 5-pack figure Clubs total 13 of 13 and we HAVE a winner! Diamonds Ace of Diamonds / Red Ninja - single card figure 2 of Diamonds / Python Patrol Trooper - single card figure 3 of Diamonds / red HISS Driver - single card figure 4 of Diamonds / black Major Bludd - DVD pack figure had the same coloring 5 of Diamonds / Crimson Guard - single card figure 6 of Diamonds / Firefly no camo - HoH figure 7 of Diamonds / red and brown Buzzer - no figure 8 of Diamonds / DDP Zartan - first single card version 9 of Diamonds / Stinger Driver - 5-pack figure 10 of Diamonds / classic Serpentor w/ Air Chariot - DVD pack figure since that's what we're counting Jack of Diamonds / Storm Shadow v.1 - 5-pack figure Queen of Diamonds / red Baroness - no figure yet King of Diamonds / hooded Cobra Commander - single pack figure Diamonds total 2 misses and 11 hits, not bad for mostly repaints Total cards - 54 Total figures - 47 Summary - the iconic versions of the characters were all hit (even though it took a few tries for some) and since the ones missing are just characters in new deco to fill out the deck I'd say the deck was a great way to predict what we'd get. |

What about the Hall of Heroes Firefly? Wasn't he all black? Wouldn't that be 6 of Diamonds? http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/Products_D ... 3757&TP=AA |

Good catch. I haven't opened my HoH figures case yet. Fixed the list. |

From the latest Q&A: Question: If the 7 pack exclusives sell well, could we continue to see additional "classic figure" themed sets alongside the movie figures? Hasbro wrote: In the short term, there is not a plan to have movie and classic on shelf together. But, if the 7-packs are successful, there is the possbility of similar sets in 2010.

You know it's funny that deck is brought up- I just opened mine for the first time last week. My wife had foot surgery, and we decided to play some Sevens. I thought all the cards were cool. |

The artwork is really good on these and I've found myself being tempted to put them in a binder in those baseball card sheets so I can see them more easily. I know I want to put the Rock 'n' Roll cards on display somehow. I'm just really glad to see Hasbro made it through most of the decos in the set even though they said it wasn't a teaser of figures to come. The ones they missed (including that v.2 colored Rock 'n' Roll) would have been nice to get but I think they did really well. |
