Your concern actually inspired me to bring my Night Raven down from its high shelf -- and holy cow, did it ever need a good dusting.
Once that was taken care of, I checked the landing gear. It's in good shape and works without problem, but there does seem to be a slight "catch" before it will actually fully retract or extend. I am of the opinion that this was simply a characteristic of the original design, one that might have possibly worsened in some planes over the years.
