I just got back from TRU, and the new ST figures are out now. I picked up Kirk, just to test the water. I'd say that they almost scored here. The best way I can describe the construction is a mix between Star Wars and Speed Racer.Kirk has a tiny head and a basic vanilla leg stance (like Speed Racer), not dynamic like SW. The plastic is rubbery (like Speed Racer), but does the job well enough. It should be easy to customize these. The belt/holster is rubber, and slips over the lower body rather than snapping like Joes and SW.Sounds good, but it's too big for the waist, so it needs to be up over the bottom of the shirt to stay put. The chair is an awesome little pack-in, and I have Wolverine chilling out in it on my router now.

Overall, I'd say they're do-able, with decent sculpting and SW articulation (minus ball/socket head). Full-on Star Trek fans may be more excited about them than I am. I'll get some pics up later.

I passed on them, Uhura was missing, and the likeness of Simon Pegg (Scotty) was lacking. Tiny heads.

I must've missed these -- thank God. Only Star Trek figures of interest to me right now are the 8" Mego-ish retros being put out by EmCe Toys, available at specialty shops. Just got the GORN, and brother, does this thing beat the heck out of that "Lizard Head Klingon Uniform" fiasco Mego made in the 1970's. They're also doing Sulu and Chekov, which Mego never got around to.

I'm only interested in the bridge set but since you have to buy the figures to get a complete bridge I'm out. Not going to waste money on figures just for accessories, especially for figures that don't have much custom potential.

Here are the pics I promised:

Kirk and accessories. After looking at some pics online, I got it right when I had the belt over the shirt. It's still kind of loose though

The chair's a little short for 4" figures, even Wolvie

wow small. But with DST saying that they might be making 4" Star Trek figures in the next few years I'd rather hold out and get the real versions of these characters instead of Abrams versions.

I had hoped to be able to use the heads though for fodder but they look as if they are going to be too small too.

Yeah that looks bad. I might get a couple just for the consoles, but I'll hold out for the rest if they clearance them. That sucks too cause I thought they'd be decent at least, but they're too tiny. The articulation alone makes it hard to even want to build them up to the right size.

Whoa - that looks horrible 8O . No fodder potential, smaller than Indy figures (smaller than DCIH?!?), t-crotch... pass. :(

Thanks for the pics, man - you saved me a nice wad of cash.

I still want to get the transporter room, though - but the bridge and the other figs are a definite no-go.

Even the transporter isn't complete, you need 5 figures to complete it and 14 to complete the bridge!

Yeah, but I think that all you get with the figs are the extra transporter pads and an extra chair or something. So the stand-alone x-porter should be enough for me. But I won't get my hopes up...

I saw these today and out of curiosity I picked up a Kirk figure. Looked at it and then realized it was Pike, not Kirk. Not a good start. I already think the guy playing "kirk's father" and Greenwood who is playing Pike in this thing looks more like Shatner then Pine but regardless the Kirk figure is pretty bad. I do like the look of the Sulu and Spock figures in both scales though. They look pretty cool.

Didn't see any of the figures, but my local TRU had the transporter and the bridge in stock. I was really on the fence with getting them. I must have stood looking at them forever trying to decide if i should get them or not. In the end, i passed, they looked kinda cheap looking to me once i saw them in hand and the price tag was a little high i thought for them.
