Don't know if this is old news - I did a search on the site and only saw a thread about Marshall's back in Nov. I found a Prince Caspian Castle at my local TRU today for $30 -- figured I'd go ahead and snag it. I hadn't planned on getting one, since I thought it was kinda small, but wasn't going to pass up a deal. Pretty sure these are gone off most shelves around the country - I grabbed the only one here. But I just figured I'd give every one a heads up. |

Well, crap. Now that I've gotten the thing out of the box, it's even smaller than I originally thought Oh, well - when cobbled together with my two POTC Isla Cruces playsets and it makes for a decent ruins. I'm SO glad I didn't drop any more $$$ on this thing than I did, but I'm starting to think that even $30 is a bit much -- at least from an grown-up/massive-playset-builder/dioist perspective |

Yeah, I found one for 15, open but complete, I passed, its just not enough of the castle. THen again, I have a black pearl and well, its way too small to be a pirate ship, lol. |

I kind of figured it would be on the small side. Actually, isn't it pretty much just a facade? I was hoping that the castle would have been a bit more substantial, since I had it in mind for my AOME. Most large playsets disappear early around here since Countryside/Clearwater is Ebayer central. How was the Las Cruces as a playset Chief? How much of a building and water wheel is there. Never saw them at all at our TRU, as most of the larger playsets and ships disappeared very early. Even KB's larger sets were long gone by the time I could check them out in earnest. Can't really tell by the stock photos. I know they were small for a 4 inch figure, but I wanted to know about a figure under 3 inches. |

The castle would be perfect for your AOME figs, Cap - that's the first thing I thought when I opened 'er up. It is just a facade - with some play features inside. I may ad some wings to the side to extend it out a bit, but that project is low on the list. The Isla Cruces playsets are great - even if you take away the water wheel. Makes a great burned-out building, either medievel or WWII-era. And they're better scaled for 1:18 figs than most other setups. For smaller figurines, it'd be quite an epic playset. I think I bought my first one for $15 on clearance at either WM or Target, and got the second for $5-10 or so a month later. My original intent was to use them to beef up my old Wayne Manor facade (before I snagged the Playmobil mansion), but they were just so cool on their own - I kept them as-is. I'll get some pics put up later this week when I'm off work (I'm working this weekend and starting my night shifts on Monday.) |

Cool guys, thanks for the info. Castles for the most part are so hit and miss. The movie related ones end up being just facades or pieces, like the original Helm's Deep set which was just the front walls, main door, and little side door from the movie. The statuary are truly the best part of that playset. But overseas, companies like Simba, Hing Fat, and even Zvezda made some superior castles that had all four walls, a jail, a main donjon, and working portcullis and drawbridge. They range from the 1" figures to Papo and Shliech(sp) size, which can pass a bit for 1:18. |

Bit OT, but check Tuesday Morning stores, I saw an Isla Cruces playset last time I was there, under 10 bucks. |

I have 2 of the Schleich castles sold at TRU (You'd cry if you knew how cheap they were They're very slightly underscaled for 1/18, but look PERFECT with Joes. Assembled however the whole deal is HUGE. Like measure in feet not inches huge. I just need to finish up the terrain base and load all my IGs into it. |

(laughing) Wow VL, I weep at the thought of what you ended up paying. Schleich is huge. We used to have a kids store in the mall that offered all of the Papo people who were right in there with the 3 3/4 Schleich. It is a shame they were all non-posable, because they made a startling assortment of fantasy and other era figures. |

I didn't see the castle, but the other day at TJ Maxx I found a Prince Caspian Trebuchet MIP for only $5.00, and it appears to be pretty close to scale. Comes with a warrior figure too. I'm not into medieval characters, but I couldn't pass on it at that price. Sadly, it was the only one there. |

I didn't pick it up and kicked myself the next day because I realized that had it been $5 cheaper I would have. Saw one at a Toys R Us on Saturday for $30 and snagged it. For $30 I think it is a good deal, but I can't imagine paying $60 for it originally. My son has an Imaginext castle that retailed for $40 originally. This Narnia castle reminds me a lot of that, , similar features but in better scale. How they came up with a $60 price tag for it, I can't imagine when the other set can retail for 2/3 of that. In fact, if anything, I think the Imaginext castle is bigger. |
