Post subject:  Which Cobra vehicle do you like best from 1986?
1986.
Terror Drome is a base to me, so it's not in.
Let us know which vehicle you like best and please explain why!

Kinda a lull year for cobra vehicles... more stylized form rather than function. A lot of the vehicles in 86 were distinct, the Hydro sled, Air chariot, and Stun were Cobra specific....and kinda single function vehicles.


and then came the raven.....

ALL kinds of awesome in both form and function. The commercial says it all:

2 Jet engines
a drop down cockpit
A Hidden bomb port.

...now you know...

Its got twin REAR guns
and a one-man drone

AND ITS ON THE LOOKOUT FOR G.I.JOE!!!

the commercial alone sold me on buying this as a kid....

The Night Raven always stymies me when I try to think what role it plays. Is it an interceptor? Spyplane? Bomber? But you cannot deny how impressive this vehicle is. Huge, black, menecing...this thing was a flying fortress. And by far the best landing gear of any aircraft toy ever.

I agree with KingofPain regarding the rest of the Cobra vehicles from 1986...sort of odd imaginary vehicles. Not necessarily bad, but not great either.

I realize the Terror Drome didn't make it, but why couldn't the Firebat be on the list? (Yes, I realize you'd have to buy the Terror Drome to get it, but still...it was a vehicle available in 1986) I think if the Firebat had been on the list, that would be the only Cobra vehicle cool enough to give the Night Raven a run for its money.

Don't ask...

I have so much memorized crap in my head its rediculous....

Thanks to a obsessive compulsive memory, I can sing the Preamble of the Constitution, Know all the themes to all the cartoons from 81 to now,. and can sing Sesame street's "Telephone rock" and Doin the Pidgeon" off the top of my head....

yeah, real impressive...

No two ways about it, the NIGHT RAVEN. Easily Cobra's most impressive plane, yes, even a bit more than the Rattler, which I do think is very cool. The Night Raven also happened to be based on one of my personal favorite real-life military planes, the SR-71 Blackbird.

Second place to me would be the Thunder Machine. It just looked so much like something the Dreadnoks would drive.

I voted for the Night Raven.

Years ago I was fortunate to pick a complete one up for less than $20 at that big flea market I go to, along with a bucketful of figures at 25 cents a pop.

I picked the Stun, based more on how much I played with it, compared to what I currently like better. The Raven is by far the best vehicle of 1986 (which make the movie "Night Raven" that much sadder!), but back in the day, I had several Stuns, and played the hell out of them. Just something I liked about them as a fast-attack/patrol vehicle that I overlooked how unpractical they would really be.

If it was solely based on how I feel now, Raven by a landslide.

This was a tough choice. I never had the Sears Dreadnok exclusives, so I can't vote for them. I like most of the standard 1986 releases well enough, but I don't use them very much. Oddly enough, I'm not a big fan of the Night Raven - I think it is visually impressive, but I also think it is far too large for what is essentially a glorified spy plane. The STUN is somewhat iconic and is not a terrible vehicle, but I also don't like that it is larger than a HISS and has so many breakable/easily lost parts. Of the bunch, I actually use the Hydro Sled the most.

... so, of course, I voted for the Thunder Machine. :-/

Night Raven. I especially like the drone, I'm a sucker for the "small vehicle from a big vehicle" idea.
Thunder Machine is second. An awesome Dreadnok vehicle and probably their best. Too bad Trasher had that friendly smile on his face instead of an evil smile.
