Does anybody remember the specific MC production runs for the tank driver figures (Rip It and Steeler)? Thanks. bearcatcc |

If memory serves, 500 of each. That is if you believe MC's numbers, of course. |

Was it that high with the Mauler boondoggle? I thought the runs were a bit lower than 500, but I couldn't find any webpages to verify when I looked. bearcatcc |

Hrm. Well there you go... I don't know why I thought the production run was smaller for the Mauler/Driver thing. I was looking for that link page but couldn't find it. Thanks. bearcatcc |

It might be that when they finaly admitted they "LASER BLAST" up on the Maulers, they said they'd be selling sets of Steeler and Rip-It, and then a few individual Steelers. The difference was because they sold more of the Cobra at the Con...though it could have come off as a different ammount of figures produced. |

A lot of people were only ordering 1 of the Cobra and none of the Joe, or 1 of the Joe and multiples of the Cobra. |

While I fully believe that Master Collector outright lied about some of their production numbers (Fuschia sets, Firefly 2 packs, the entire run of the 2004 exclusives....) I think they were fairly truthful about the 2007 and later offerings. The reality is that the 07's were the first real sell outs at the convention and MC learned that by selling out and maintaining that aftermarket value, their exclusives were much more desirable. Thus, the sellouts of the '08 exclusives. Plus, these '07 figs remain relatively hard to acquire on the 2nd hand market. As such, I'd say that 500 is an accurrate number when you assume there is probably a 10% or so overrun to cover any figures that were messed up in the production process. |
