I think, that would be one set that unless they hat trick lemonade it, i would get whole without hesitation (so far i have only gotten individual figs from various con sets).

Anyway how would you go about making it and what would you put in it?

I would go:

Brekhov
Daina
Horrorshow
Stormavik
Shrage
Dragonsky
Gorky
Misha
6 OG green shirts
1 OG officer of some sort

Wouldn't that be something folks?

Ideas for con vehics 2, 3 packs etc?

Sounds like a good set. It would even top it all off if Master Collector were able to announce the "first ever exclusive convention vehicle". A Mi-24 Hind! They can do a repaint of something to have a jeep of some sort too. I'd want to get the whole set with the vehicles for sure.

I wouldn't put nuthin' in it, cuz we already got perfect versions of these guys in the Spy Troops comic packs. Well, except maybe Daina, but she's pretty good.

What Sputnik said.

I really can't imagine how they could do anything different than we already got for cheap a couple years back.

Yes, the ARAH figures were just about perfect. However, there's no reason that those same molds couldn't be used again in a new color scheme.

Oktober Guard vs. Red Shadows

Oktober Guard
Red Star
Col. Brekhov
Diana
Shrage
Horror Show
Stormavik
Sgt. Misha
Lt. Gorky
Dragonsky

all in matching or similar uniforms. Perhaps a grey/brown/block jagged edge camo pattern?

Red Shadows
Baron Ironblood
Hunter
Bald Guy w/head tattoos
Red Shadows troopers X3

IMHO you could always improve on anything.

With the OG's a few points are:

Horrorshow was just not big enough.
Daina could use the coverall look

and also the color schemes on con figs are generally much better than standard line figs. So there would be more detail, painted acc, etc.

I think if the Con theme continues it will happen one of these years (hopefully soon).

I also hope they do some sort of lost character sets with Bongo, Soft Master, White Clown, Magda, and so on and so forth.

I think this would be nearly impossible since, as has been stated, Hasbro pretty much got it right the first time around.

Yes, Horror Show could have been bigger, but you'd need an entirely new set of molds to correct that matter, and that would be horrifically expensive.

About all I can think of that could be changed would be to recolor Daina in her gold-and-green camouflage flight suit, and maybe make a new head where she's wearing the pilot's helmet instead of the fur hat, and maybe do Schrage "as is", but with a light green uniform instead of the tan.

Short of creating new characters (and no, that's not a plug for my customs) :-D  , or dressing up the characters in significantly new uniforms, as they did with Dragonsky in 2005, I just don't think an Oktober Guard Convention set is all that workable.

What might be workable is a Convention Set of either previously unseen versions of popular characters, such as the Daina and Schrage I just mentioned, along with other characters from the comics and animated series that never made it into figure form. Unfortunately, a collection like that would be so diverse (and likely difficult to pull together based on existing parts), that it would be pretty hard to come up with a "theme" for it.

Although, I'll admit I wouldn't mind seeing a couple of Oktober Guard vehicles. :-)

Get Hasbro to front the capital for Bbi's Hind. ;)

Well here is an easy example of how to work out a Horrorshow custom amalga fig.

A roadpig torso painted flat green with a padded rubbery overshirt.

Its not easy but it is not necessary to create a new mold.

I think one off acc of a shirt like that nature are not impossible and as mentioned there were some drawbacks to the first time around concept (people have never gotten anything so they were happy and not overly critical of what we did get which aside from the heads was very bland in parts and coloring though as mentioned i was happy ENOUGH with it for the way we got it. A con set would give them the opportunity to create much better figs)

(yea that may be too much to ask) but BUT i do wonder if they could not get with a lesser company like Lanard to grab their famous mold for the easy OG vehicle and paint it up?

Don't know if that would ever work (given that one time they did the thing with the metal trailer), but that would basically give you the OG's and their iconic vehicle (without balloon tires perhaps)

I'd just go third party and wouldn't bother with Hasbro-made vehicles. Master Collector can provide the figures, PTE can give us the ChiCom vehicles.

Well it would -- for the overshirt. Besides, Horror-Show's build is not the "powerful muscular" body of Road Pig. Horror-Show is more bulky than anything. Horror-Show is a difficult character to bring together from existing molds. It's why, despite his being a personal favorite of mine, I never tried a custom of him.

Well in the 1/18 scale a shirt on a detailed muscular torso like that would create the proper illusion. It would simply not be form fitting and that is enough IMHO (it won't lay flat exposing all those bulging nooks and crannies of beefcake.

They can also go the route of utilizing maybe jvC legs or some other fatter leg versions to create the desired result.

I honestly think they can do it and its a matter of creativity and desire.

Sure it is easy to repaint 12 Vipers red and call it a con set but thats not something i would top dollar for.

the 2007 and 2005 sets were close to worthwhile enough IMHO.

Since the 25th figs are generally bigger anyway, I'd settle for a 25th Horrorshow (with appropriate bulk) to put alongside my shorter RAH Oktober Guards. And if I one day stumble upon that Corps vehicle (think I've got a couple somewhere) then they'll already have their ride.

I'd still like to score that con Dragonsky one of these days, tho!

This all reminds me, I have a couple of Oktober Guard logos I have designed. The first was used by the G.I.Joe Collectors' Club newsletter when they printed my Oktober Guard retrospective article a while back. This is a less weathered version of it. Here it is.
