Post subject:  K*B in Tucson - RIP :(
Knew it was going to happen, but still.

Saturday was the last day for the K*B closest to me. The next closest one had closed over a week prior. I am assuming that the third one, which is pretty well across town, is also gone.

The K*B closest to me had some small carded Joes last Thursday. They'd actually maintained a fair supply, and I'd been able to help a couple of people build some supplies of these, including myself. On that Thursday, my last time in the store, they had a few left of Stalker, Ace, and Dusty. I bought one of each. $1.50 per.

I was past there today. Store was closed. Shelves gone, even from the walls. Just a row of cash registers. I sort of hope the last few Joe figures, and some of the other remaining merchandise, found good homes on Saturday.

I'm going to miss K*B. :-( :cry:

Well today was the last day for the company. Any remaining stores that hadn't closed already would close today. Shelving and everything was to be closed, but like our store, not all shelving sold. We got rid of all the merchandise and such, but people kept screwing around about getting the shelves. I guess whoever still wants it has to deal with the people that own the store or the liquidators. We were there until the last day like we said we would be.

It's sad, and even though I'm now able to work on the projects I've been needing to work on, I do miss going down there. The DM was the worst part of the job. I don't know why she acted the way she did, but she made the job not fun. Our previous DM was great and did her job as well as letting us do our job. But beyond that, working for the store was fun. I've already made a big post about all that and I'll refrain from it again.

My hope is that after all the ecconomy issues can pass, maybe a new toy chain can step in. It's not out of the question. There is a market for it. If there were a chain that focused on import and export as well as current toys, it could be a very popular store. Let's say you take a store like Big Bad Toy Store and combine it with Hobby Link Japan. I know it sounds crazy but it isn't out of the question. The hardest part would be getting it off the ground. The rest would take care of it's self. It just couldn't happen right now due to not just the ecconomy but also the media making sure to push ecconomic issues.

I'd like to see something like that, given my reluctance to buy toys "sight unseen" online.

I'll still miss K*B, though. :-(

And you're right about the media and the economy, too. I'll say no more since I don't want this to go political.
