so i look at Ebay to see all the things I can't afford. I stumbled upon this auction. My question is can they do this?(well obviously they can because they are) to clarify why can they do this? Not looking to start a flame war just puzzled.

I've seen it done before. IMHO since it is buyer beware, nobody is forced to bid on it in the first place.

I would never do so myself and they pay the pennies listing fee anyway.

Yeah, there's no way in hell I'd ever bid on that. He says he'll add more stuff the higher the bidding goes, and that the high shipping will be scaled back as necessary, but $10 says he had decided long before he posted the auction what he'd be sending the winner, and is just going to use that ridiculously high shipping quote to 'balance out' what he feels he deserves.

Well the auction has ended without any bids. Colour me terribly unsurprised about that.

look at that, no bods, I have seen successful auctions of that type but the seller makes more of an effort. He started out with 1 one item revealed, at 10 bids he revealed another, and at 15, and at 20 etc etc etc so you knew what was being added. It didnt have anything to do with how hig it went.

My favorite part was: "WINNER MUST WAIT FOR INVOICE NO EXCEPTIONS, WINNER AGREES TO LEAVE POSITIVE FEEDBACK ONLY. "
Not sure that Ebay would consider that binding.

The sad part is it probably isn't a kid...

Like I said I wasn't trying to start a flame war, but i didn't think Ebay allowed that kind of stuff.
