Just got the Resolute Duke, and I know there was as thread about why some loved him and thought he was the best thing ever, but I have a couple complaints:

His pistol is molded in the holster yet he also has a pistol.....
He has a knife, but no sheath......

I know, pretty minor complaints, but after all the progress that has been made in regards to sheaths and accessory placement, this pretty much bummed me out.

I am also not a big fan of his ankles/boots/pants cuffs. not sure what exactly is going on there but it bugs me for some reason.

Other than that, he is pretty cool, nicely sculpted, and very un-Duke-like in many respects, but the accessory thing bugs me just like getting a comic pack Falcon with a great holster and no gun.

Anybody else have complaints or praise?

Exactly the same complaints I have. It doesn't make any science to me.

The figure itself is something I really like and shows a lot of the progress the toy industry has made and the dedication Hasbro has for this line.

The accessories are where my problems are. First, the QC must not have been as tight for these guys. The one I found was missing a holster entirely. Square hole on his leg instead. On top of that his vest was put on wrong and warped so the peg didn't work to hold the vest on. I had to cut the peg off so the vest would stop riding lopsided. The rifle he comes with is neat but not nearly as intricately deatailed as some fo the other weapons we've seen. That may have more to do with the cartoon designs then the production though.

Actually I kind of dislike him for being so "Plain Jane" for lack of a better term, granted Duke has always been a plain jane so that's hard to get around.

Still I suppose the other thing is I have tons of Duke and I don't even like him, I think he wore out his welcome around VvV in my mind, I havea few figures and I think they make great dukes but really I don't feel this one is any greater really.

That's a good point, that hadn't occured to me before. Personally, I don't really care about the holster/sheath thing. The fact that I do not, though, is suprising to me. I usually love that sort of thing.

I don't like the spats (the cloth covering the boots) at all. That stuff is for WWII and Honor Guards. A simple fix though, just cut off and add black boots from somewhere else. this also fixes the tiny feet thing. Then, you can take the spats and make a Snake eyes v4. Thanks Hasbro!!!

I am literally just opening up mine.

the weapons don't really bother me, but I am disappointed on the lack of knife sheath and non functional gun holster. With the detail put into other figures,.. this should have been a no brainer.

I do think the configuration and body style looks good. The Tiny feet don't bother me so much.....

well I was vocal on the other thread as loving the figure - but my take is from a customs view. I save a ton of figures back without modification, for my son, when he's old enough to play with them. But I don't display as-is figures much at all. So if I open something up, or comment on it, you can bet it's from the perspective of a customizer.

For that reason, my view may be less relevant for some. I don't see Resolute Duke as Duke. I see a cool base uniform (generic, yes, but much more potential than the treatment the O13 got), decent proportions, and a bit more solid (feeling that is) construction.

The holster sux, but I will say at least they molded it in different plastic, so it can be removed easily. In that sense, my biggest gripe is having to use up holsters from my fodder bin rather than gaining more working holsters as should have been the case.

The other complaints I've seen are also easily changed. And while that certainly makes this figure more of an A- or B+ for anyone wanting the figure as-is, it keeps it's A grade from me, since I bought it to customize in the first place.

How is it you are all seeing past his giant frelling hips!!! Them's some good baby birthin' hips right there! Seriously, the hips on this dude are way huge compared to other figures in this line. Okay maybe it's his waist that's small and the hips are normal but either way he looks odd to me with though big bulging hips coming out from under his belt.

Same with the Resolute Trooper (and Lift-ticket and Mutt and Buzzer).

Oh and the tiny feet, no working holsters (seriously that's been a staple of this line and they skimp now?!), 3 weapons-2 hands etc etc.

I'm with you, Chris - the tiny waist is my major gripe about the figure (because the other problems are easily fixed.)

Mutt & Buzzer do have big thighs, though - the waists are ok with other legs. Resolute figs, however, only seem to look decent when they're wearing a flak vest :(

The non-functional holster doesn't bother me. In terms of scale/proportion, it's more accurate than the oversized holsters most of the 25A figures have. I even like that it's a piece added to the leg instead of a part of the leg sculpted to be a holster/gun.

The spats don't do much for me, but I agree the figure itself as a nice generic starting point quality to it.

The Resolute figure I'm disappointed with is, surprisingly, the Cobra trooper. Too many uniform colors- gloss black, matte black, blue, navy blue, grey. Navy blue works just fine. The grey especially distracts from the overall aesthetic. The colors aren't the only problem. The pouches that hang from the flak vest dangle in front of the legs and restrict movement.

Maybe I'm just biased, since it's mine, ;-) but i think there are other means of making the hip issue a non-factor. There aren't many figs I use without a belt anyway, so this was an easy solution for me:

So Dennis, since Knighthawk's kind of a self-custom, then you're saying you've got the ass of a 10-yr old boy? ;-)

Well, I'd admit that, yes, this is true. Except that if I did so, fellas like JM70, Spudnek, or CabanaJ would just come in here and claim that this post is useless without pics, and I tire of telling people they have to visit my pay site if they want to see pics of my ass. :shifty:

Back to the figure - I'm on board with the problem with the legs sticking out, even though this isn't the only figure with that problem. You lose me, however, when you start evaluating this (male) action figure's junk in the trunk...
