Here is a Christmas present, a magazine called Cool Kidz. I am not really a kid, and I am not The Fonz so I am not considered to be cool, so the magazine wasn't very useful. But the low-quality action figures on the front were something I have not seen before. I think the magazine is British, and the figures from China of course.

The figures seem to be Chap Mei copies, and they don’t have the best plastic as one of them had a broken leg when I opened it.

The good part is that the Sigma 6 Snake Eyes has a grenade accessory now.

I don’t know if this has been talked about before, but I came across some paintings of action figures.
From the site on the link, click on "open toy box" and then click on "paintings" for G.I. Joe, He-Man, WWF’s Big John Studd and Hulk Hogan.

Yeah, we get that magazine over here. Sometimes you get Chap Mei army figures with it. Never bought it though. :-)

That's a cool Serpentor painting - make a great portrait to be hanging in the back of someone's Cobra HQ diorama or the like.

Yes, Serpentor looks rather fearsome with his elbow rivets and rounded-off helmet fangs. :shifty:

It reminds me of those paintings of other Muppets you would occasionally see on The Muppet Show or Sesame Street. And like them, it is slightly disturbing. The art quality is very good, but again...disturbing. 8-O

The site says that's like a 60x90 oil painting. That's AMAZING.

At first I thought it was more likely HDR stye photography digitally manipulated to look more like it was painted and printed on canvas. I really like his stuff.

The best part of that painting is the visible elbow joints.

I wish I could remember more details, but I think either Lee's or ToyFare covered the artist of those paintings a while back. He's not trying to paint the characters, he's trying to paint the actual TOYS themselves. He has a remarkable one of a Masters of the Universe Battle Cat, as well as a somewhat disturbing one of a disassembled Riddler figure. But the overall detail work is astounding on all of them.
