GvC Duke: This figure uses the Mutt body, fixed Flint arms, and the fixed (smaller) Duke head. The accessories included are the same as those with Tiger Force Duke molded in black plastic. I like this color scheme and design for Duke but those Mutt thighs are HUGE!!!

Image

GvC Storm Shadow: This is the "fixed" v2 Storm Shadow mold as used on the Ninja Viper. The accessories are the Officer harness as well as the v1 scabbards & quiver molded in red. The leg straps remain empty (the GvC figure had red nunchuks strapped to them). This is my favorite figure of the bunch since I really loved the GvC design and this figure is the one that comes closest to its inspiration in terms of accuracy.

Image

GvC Cobra Commander: This is the comic pack Cobra Commander (Crimson Guard body) with metallic blue HISS Driver lower legs. The hood has the "bleeding eyes" Cobra logo which I really love. The Cobra-headed sword is still present although the original T-crotch GvC version only had a Cobra-headed dagger. This is the second closest approximation to the original among the four figures.

Image

Snake Eyes: Ahh Snake Eyes... I don't even know where they based this figure on. It's the v3 base with the v1/O13 harness but with v3 gear. It looks like the 1st VvV version but is colored like the 2nd VvV design. The silver knee pads are reminiscent of the 2nd GvC version though. And the harness is similar to the 1st GvC version.

Overall, Storm Shadow and Cobra Commander are good figures, Snake Eyes and Duke are... different... At least the new accessories included with each figure make them somewhat mroe interesting than just plain old straight up repaints or reissues.

Thanks for sharing. There are some interesting takes on these characters and the swapped parts at least make them more than just repaints. Still, the characters aren't exciting at all and there just isn't enough good to justify buying this set.

What's on the DVD?

Ha ha, maybe they should call it the Over Done Characters DVD pack.

It's not really the figures fault because they are nice figures, but it seems like we've gotten so many Snake Eyes, Duke, Storm Shadow, and Cobra Commander figures over the last few years it's getting harder and harder to get excited about even more of these guys.

May I introduce you to our newest shelf-warmer of 2009, the GIJoe Greatest Battles DVD pack? Included are 4 figures from a inferior design redone in 25th style to still look inferior. :-/

You cancel my wave 5 vehicles and wave 3 Combat Heroes but still give me this? :hasbro: :balloon_hasbro:

Wow...as awesome as the other two upcoming 5-packs look, this is just disappointing. The Storm Shadow is okay, but pretty easily customizable without buying the set. I guess it would be cool to use the head from that CC on my Sideshow-CC inspired custom, but I don't really feel like buying the whole set just for that. Maybe if it goes on clearance.

I'm buying it.

Lame? Kind of. Overdone characters? Very. But still worth buying IMO? Yup.

could this be a Sunbow cartoon dvd set? i might be overthinking ....but as far as i can remember SS never had a hood in the original shhow , that figure didn't come out till 88, and Duke never had a black vest , AS far as SE , wasnt he just a comando and not a ninja, i think CC can be either . the main reson i am thinking this is all the other dvd packs had figures that looked like what was on the disk , i don't tink any of these guys looked this way in the early 80's .... late 80's maybe , i know its a streatch , but what else could it be? Sigma 6 in 3 3/4 25th scale?

From what I remember seeing before(these pics are way too washed out to really see any detail), I think they're fine if they would have come out a month ago for parents to scoop up for Xmas, but now, it's kind of too late, I see these just sitting on the shelves. I'll wait for the other 5-packs!!!

These are based on G2 or GvC figures. The included DVD is of Spy Troops and Valor vs Venom. The box art shows Valor vs Venom art though, which doesn't match the intended designs of the figures.
