Forget for a second, that the plastic was extremly brittle and finding Marauders with intact thumbs is a treasure hunt; and forget that the light blue colours mess up an otherwise neat camo pattern. Hell even forget what the main objective of the team was (was it to combat Destro's IGs?!?). The fact of the matter is, Sarge's light blue vest looked killer!

I wouldn't expect hardcore army fans to understand, this coming from a guy who likes red football jerseys on the field of battle!

I had the SM BBQ when i was a kid. Otherwise I wouldve picked Lowlight

I still have most of these...

I would have to pick Footloose... I thought he looked more anime-ish in those colors.

The premise might have been a little weak, but the figures in this set are surprisingly strong. I went with BBQ since the Marauder's colors made him more battlefield friendly. While I wouldn't say he's an upgrade on the original, he is on the same level when used in a different context. The rest of the members are slight degradations over their original versions, so BBQ wins.

That was Battle Force 2000, Slaughters Marauders were supposed to fight Python Patrol.

I went with Spirit as the bright Blue really only caused problems with the boots and his hands and the rest of the paint apps are pretty good (except the missing eyebrows) it's a shame he's so damn brittle.

Almost everyone else in SM has a severe problem be it a big ass blue helmet, different hair color, unpainted wrist bands, or being Sgt. Slaughter Lowlight is okay but v1 and v5 are far far superior

I went with Barbecue... who was actually the only Maruaders figure I did not own as a kid.

I just thought he looked much cooler than the first version.

I love the fact that GI Joe put a firefighter on the books, but I am a fire fighter and I have never worn cammo or a Blue helmet fighting fires... As much as I love the character that United Nations Blue looked soo weird on him though he would be my second choice

So yeah I voted for Mutt and Junkyard because the blue on his vest actually looks better than original figure IMO and makes me think of him as more cop-like.

BTW I would vote for the vehicles over the figures any day! I own the Lynx and Equalizer and they are a core part of my armor complement.

Back in the 80's the Chinese were painting a bunch of GI Joe Slaughters Maruaders toys for shipment to the US, and some Chinese General saw these toys and said, "Is this what the US is doing for camo now!? - Well then, break out the indigo we're doing it too!" And there you go.

I love all the Slaughter's Marauders - actually I love the vehicles and put up with the figurs. If I have to pick just one I'd say Low-Light because the camo works for him more so than the other guys.

I chose Barbecue. As these figures were made in Brazil, their skin tone has always looked just a little off. Add to the fact of just painting dots for eyes on Footloose, and somebody misplaced Spirit's eyebrows completely (fixable problems for someone with sufficient skill, but even so...), this line had a few problems. But since no skin was visible on Barbecue, I think he came out the best.

Gotta go with the sarge here... but for an odd reason.

I love the way the recolored sets like TF, PP, and Slaughter's Marauders look when they're grouped up on a shelf. I think as a set, these guys and the vehicles look really sharp. Individually though, the repaints don't really serve much of a purpose and none really stand out as a great redesign.

I got a Sarge in an ebay lot though, and used the chest/arms combined with a SF Sagat head and Snake-Eyes V4 legs to make a Cobra drill instructor... I don't know that I ever posted him online anywhere because he seemed like such a simple custom, but I still think he looks SHARP. I think he's the only custom besides my suited Crimson Twins that get displayed alongside the rest of my Cobra figures.

Are you sure about that? Then who did Tiger Force fight? Like the PP used stolen joe vehicles, TF used stolen cobra vehicles too.

I had to go with Spirit just because he's the first figure I remember actually buying in the store and the only SM fig I have. If I were going by who I thought looked the best, though, it would be either Footloose or Mutt.
