I ran out of years, so next are the sub-teams, convention figs and TRU-packs and stuff.
First, Oktober Guard. (here ya go, GI Trekker!)
Let us know which figure you like best and please explain why!

I would have gone with Horror Show had he been big. I truly appreciate the effort with the new mold, but the figure is a shrimp

I went with Dragonsky. Well, my LBC with the head from CP #101 on the Convention figure's body

I went Red Star. Having not read the comics, this figure was my intro to the Guard. Plus, he is a cool looking figure with neat accessories.

This is a tough one.
I would have to say it is between Daina for that kickin head sculpt, and Red Star and Volga for their uniform paint apps.

Con Dragonsky was a very sweet figure A VERY SWEET ONE, but not too Guardish in terms of symbols or anything.

I do like Misha as a figure as well.

I would have to say the best all around for me was Red Star. So much so that i tracked down about 10 and made into generic troops. If Marauder ever comes out with RAH size berets i would hope they are light blue as that would really complete the outfit.

I went with the con Dragonsky. This is just about the only figure from the whole list I don't have, too, but it still looks perfect. I realize it doesn't have a lot of the colors you'd associate with the Oktober Guard, but I also don't care that much about them because I don't have most of the issues with them in it. So, I went with the coolest looking one.

I went with 05 Brekhov, cause he looked the closest to his original Comic incarnation.
08 Red Star could've been a great Brekhov, despite the diaper crotch and duke arms, but nooo.

And the entire 05 year was better than the 06 year's figures. 05 & 06 being the best years for OG to date.
Why Hasbro hasn't released a 25th OG pack as an internet exclusive is beyond me.

I think it is coming.

I think Kwinn is coming too honestly.

I'm wondering if they can deviate however for when they create Horrorshow and make him to be big. Given what they did with Barrage and roadblock i think that is achievable. If even to just give him a bigger vest or something that would somehow not constrict movement.

What i am hoping is that they create the Soft Master. That would be super cool.

AND OF COURSE

WONGGGGGGGG

Shrage. I'm not a particular fan of the character, but it's just proof that with a good combination of old parts and a new head a great figure can be made.

Horror Show was always my favorite character, both in the comics and the cartoon one shot.

This was tough, tough call for me. Con Dragonsky is just a plain sweet figure. The paint scheme they used pops and looks awesome. Can't complain about the mold they used that they were able to bring out details on. Compared to the comic pack figures though, he loses points for not really being true to any of his appearances. And the comic pack version loses points for not having a frigging helmet.

Horrorshow is perfect, at least size wise. If you consider that most of us had long since given up on getting a decent version of any of the Guard, seeing Horrorshow in plastic form boggles my mind. He's a figure I'm really happy with and wouldn't let go of at any price.

He's tiny though with a lower case "t"
I mean as a stand alone the fig is very good (the lack of movement is a buzz kill for me personally. I would have liked to see a sculpted to the legs bottom of the jacket, or one that is cloth or perhaps is in 2,3 pieces so he can move his leg) but he is not the "character" because of the size.

Just one of Horrorshow's undersized comrades. Considering Barrage I would just hope they make him nice and fat, or at least bulky. Otherwise its like reusing the v1 roadblock and lining him up as if he is this big bad tough dude.

Just my two cents on H.

I really wish there was a Dasaffe option on this one, simply because it is difficult to pick just one option. I always associate the OG in 'generations'.

The first five.

Then the five with Dragonsky.

Then Daina and Dragonsky with Red Star, Sgt. Misha and Lt. Gorky.

Then Daina, Dragonsky, Sgt Misha, Red Star with Big Bear and Ruslan.

Lt. Gorky never betrayed Daina and died.

Way back in the day I wanted to make customs of the OG using the back cover of the Annual (#2?). Red Star for Colonel Brekhov, Mace head for either Shrage or Stormavik, etc.

As for the figures themselves...

Red Star: One of my favorites to army build and LBC into other characters.

Big Bear '92: Another favorite to alter to make new characters.

Big Bear '93: Mail-in version I used to use as Big Bear when he was TDY w/the JOE Team, but lately I have been using him for a new character.

Colonel Brekhov '98: I have a number of these that I have put Taurus legs on with new heads for new characters.

Lt. Gorky '98 (Big Bear repaint): Not used as Lt. Gorky or another Big Bear, I use this one for a Border Guards trooper.

Volga: Absolutely different character than Daina. I use her as a Medical Specialist/Support.

Colonel Brekhov '05 (original look):

Daina: Placeholder figure for Daina until I steal a decent recipe to make my own definite version. :)

Dragonsky '05 (convention): Don't own, but planning on doing my own custom based on the Con.

Horror Show: Placeholder figure for now. Needs to have a bigger torso to be more comic book accurate.

Shrage: Fairly decent placeholder.

Stormavik: Fairly decent placeholder figure. (Would love to get a few more to customize, but this one seems the hardest OG figure to find anywhere).

Dragonsky '06 (comic pack): I've seen a few customs on here that look better than this Hasbro effort. He needs a Salvo head to look right, IMHO.

Lt. Gorky '06 (original look): Head sculpt is useful for other stuff, body is meh. I've seen better (accurate) customs on here.

Sgt. Misha Zubenkov: Perfect body for generic Spetsnaz troops. Simple headswaps make new characters. I would love to figure out a way to make a few troops with the hoods up.

Still working on an ARAH Ruslan custom recipe and a Big Bear winter gear (DDP)...

...and a whole lot of other ideas too.

Even though he's really undersized I'd have to give the nod to Horrorshow. Between the jacket, the expression, and the 'stach, he just hits his cartoon and comic book look better than the rest.

I think he also tops the list just because he's one of the figures I thought we'd never see considering he needed so many new parts instead of being mostly repainted parts.
