I just received my DTC Wave 4 figures in the mail and look forward to freeing my figures from their plastic cages; however, considering the "rarity" (only time will tell) of these figures, I would like to be able to open these figures without damaging their card backs to preserve the card art etc.

Does anyone have any techniques that they can share for freeing my figures, but not at the expense of the card backing? Considering how well the card art of the original RAH figures is admired, I figured that someone on this board must have mastered some sort of technique by now.

Cut away the plastic with a hobby knife above the card. I've never tried it, but an old trick for removing figs from their package and resealing it is to use lighter fluid where the bubble's glued to the card.

I just use an exacto....Cut away the major portion of the bubble...but leave the ring where it's glued down.....I think it'll always look better than the torn off bubble look.

Just poke the exacto in and keep it parallel with the card back and it'll just run down where the plastic is thinnest because it was stretched in the molding process along the curved corner.

An exacto knife, hobby knife, razor knife just lay the tool flat against the card with the tip of the blade just puncturing the bubble and guide it along the perimeter. you should be able to pop the bubble off without a hitch. got back and trim up any high spots and you got an intact card.

I've heard of people using a hair dryer as well to loosen the glue and take off the bubble but I've never tried it.

I was going to recommend the hair dryer approach as a way to heat up/loosen the glue.
