Which one of these Joe Jeeps/Buggys is your favorite, and why? What are their pros/cons?
Vote and mention why you pick the vehicle.

No contest. The A.W.E. fits more people, is more interactive (you can take the freaking engine out) and is a dune buggy.

It was my favorite vehicle when I was a kid and is absolutely in the top 5 now.

I don't really think one is better than the other. They both have their places. The VAMP is 4WD, has more ground clearance, and (presumably) has more torque. The AWE Striker is lighter, more nimble, and probably faster. It would probably be better suited to deserts and improved areas where the VAMP would perform equally well in those places as well as on muddy trails and in the snow.

As far as which one I like more, though, I definitely think the AWE Striker is cooler. I don't know why, because I love the Stinger, but the VAMP just isn't that high on my list of things to get.

The VAMP is a far better toy in my opinion plus has more guns, and it has a far superior driver. I mean Clutch once dumped a christmas tree on Zap's lawn. Clutch doesn't even celebrate christmas, but hey he doesn't have a dead ass tree on his lawn

Also the 25th version has a removable shovel, that's rad

had to go with VAMP. it was my first joe vehicle, and i've always thought it was more 'serious' than the AWE.
Don't get me wrong -- i like the AWE, and i even like both VAMPs from back in the day, but the VAMP that came with my straight-arm Clutch was one of my favorite vehicles as a kid -- and still ranks right up top today -
and i still have it!

What a hard decision.

The VAMP is one of the vehicles that started it all; the AWE Striker is a rough and tumble surgical-strike vehicle.

There is, of course, no point in even debating what a turd Crankcase is compared to Clutch. But the vehicles are almost evenly matched. The VAMP has more armor and is a bit bulkier. The AWE Striker is bareback by comparison, but has a certain lean and hungry feel about it.

If I have to pick one, and I hate you for making me decide ;-) , it would be the AWE Striker. As already pointed out, the VAMP only seats two. The AWE Striker holds four or so. The VAMP has gas cans, but the AS has a removable engine and cover. The VAMP's wheels roll, but the AS has turning front wheels with suspension. The VAMP's roll bar blocks the field of vision of the driver figure- no such problem with the AS.

AWE, no contest. I far, far prefer the AWE thanks to its functional steering, greater detail, suspension, steering, engine, and overall design. Its only drawback is that it leaves its occupants fully exposed. But in a world where everyone has guns and no one gets shot, thats ok. The VAMP is neat, but far too simplistic and underdetailed for my taste.

I'd feel safer in the VAMP being a little less open air if you will- the Awe-Striker was always a tad too Megaforce...deeds not words!

Smile when you say that. You are referring to the absolutely best 80's movie ever. If there was ever an 80's action hero, it was not Rambo or Commando, it was Barry Bostwick in a spandex unitard.

It's one of the reasons that I love the awe striker.

No contest, you say!? I offer you this .... a contest:

Roll both your VAMP and your AWE striker down a flight of stairs. The one left unscathed is the ultimate - and that vehicle, my friends, will be the VAMP.

The VAMP is almost indestructible. It's the only GI Joe vehicle to survive my childhood.

Sure the AWE is nice and bouncy, but with that low ground clearance it'll be bouncing off gravel and getting stuck on pebbles. As a toy its flimsy, and in the real world it has limited practicality. The VAMP can transport a general around a base or Joes into battle. It's all the pleasure and functionality of a JEEP. The AWE is more liken to those go-carts at Celebration Station.

And the winner is......

VAMP

I disagree that the VAMP is tougher than the AWE Striker (my Tiger Sting broke pretty quickly), but unfortunately, I recently found out that if you're not careful how you store the AWE, the suspension will get compressed and warp.

Once again, I must wholeheartedly disagree. I have several vamps with missing guns, cracked rollbars, and cracked hoods. I've never seen a Vamp Mark II without a floppy missile launcher.

My awestriker used to get tossed off 5th floor balconies with Skystriker parachutes on. The only damage that it's ever suffered was bent aerials from when I packed it away in a box and moved it 8 times.

The awe striker also had a mobile suspension, and steerable wheels.

I offer you a test.

Roll both vehicles 4 feet away from a 30 foot cliff over jagged rocks. Turn the Awe Striker wheels to the left, and try to do the same to the VAMP. Push both vehicles. The one that doesn't go off the cliff is the better vehicle...

 Okay Raps.....

I offer you a test -

Pour a couple of 50# bags of charcoal in a straight line across your front lawn.
Then do a shorter perpendicular line about three quarters of the way up the first line.
Tie a metal wire or heavy fishing line to the front bumpers of each vehicle and set them at one end of the longer line of charcoal and run the wire across to the other side of the longer line of charcoal.
Ignite the charcoal and let it burn for 10-mins
Drag the two vehicles through the burning coals, and the one that gets snagged on a chunk of charcoal and melts is the loser.

:shifty: The second line of coal was just to scare your neighbors. :shifty:

The VAMP is copied from the same people who brought us Benito Mussolini and the mafia.

The AWE Striker/dune buggy is American-made.

'Nuff said. ;-)

BTW, which is actually used by the US military? (Hint: The SEALs call it the Desert Patrol Vehicle.) The Cheetah didn't even make it out of the prototype stage. :-P
