Just have to praise this figure. :-)

I picked one up last night, after being on the fence about her from seeing pics...but one up-close look at that head, that marvelous head, and I had to have her. Out of the package she didn't disappoint; the head is the ideal "military female" look to me, feminine with the hair swept up but not butch, a perfectly sculpted face and a head molded to look good on the neck.

A far cry from the original "stretched out Halloween mask and bow legs" look 25A offered. Just as the "blue" Baroness head was a major improvement (though the body still was horrid) over the 5-pack version.

I look at her, and ask: why couldn't Hasbro get it right like this from the start? I mean, c'mon, how hard is it to find a designer who can get it right, and stick with him/her? Does the IQ truly get smaller the higher up the corporate ladder you go?

It just seems a shame that, as is typical, things only really start to get good as the line dwindles toward it's end (a sure sign that it's ending is the figures get better--Valor vs. Venom Bombstrike, anyone?)

Anyway, can't praise her enough; side by side with the 25A original there is just *no* comparison. Definitely may have to snag me a couple of more.

And while I'm at it, I have to add praise for the Matt Tracker I picked up, whom I found hidden deep beneath the other figs! I used to watch the original incarnation of MASK (before it became "let's race all the time!" suckfest) though never had any toys; had no interest in this fig until I saw him up close. WOW! That is one fantastic head...haven't taken him out of the package yet but the rest looks great as well, and again, makes me wonder why they couldn't do this right from the beginning...

I gotta agree with you on Scarlett. She is a really great figure. Funny thing that the lower legs and head are the only parts different from the original (and the web gear obviously), and I like this one so much more. Those colors just pop.

You make an interesting point on the VvV Bombstrike. The Snake Eyes from that wave was also the very best figure from that incarnation. Same goes for the DTC Barrel Roll...

Interesting.

Too true, and they really just...change the overall effect all on their own. I'm liking the subdued silver a lot (finally got her gear off). Really with the original my main complaints were the legs and head, the rest of he was okay. I did notice the hands on this one are a bit stiffer than some of the earlier figures too (ditto for Matt Tracker, who just went up about 200% in my estimation of coolness.) :-D

And I figured that all out without inside info.

Think too that about the point where DTC was canned, they were coming out with--or planning to--some really well-detailed figures (like Outback). And with the word that the 25A latest vehicle wave has been yanked, the writing seems to be on the wall. Not to mention the Indy figures--suddenly they're releasing really good ones, and--BANG!--there goes the line.

If the figures keep coming out this nice, I'd hope I'm wrong!

Yeah, but in this case, the line is not "going away", it's just getting repackaged for Resolute and the movie.

And yeah, Pilot Scarlett is great. I replaced the stock head with a SW Juno Eclipse, though, to give her a more 'glenda' look.

I was looking at this figure today, I had to pass on her, I saw multiples in stores today, but only one each of some of the bigger players in my collection (Zartan, Airborne), so I shoudl be able to finder next time I have funds. I was curious if any of the helmets that have come with any of the original 13 or Duke fit on her head. It would be really cool to be able to have a helmeted version without having to modify a head too much, plus it would be removable rather than having to stay on and cover all the hair you had to remove to make it fit.

I was thinking about using that head. Does it need mods to make it fit well? I rather wouldn't like to mod any loose heads.
I've got this head instead...

It required the usual hot-glue treatment (it's a SW head, so the neck-ball cavity is larger...just put in a little hot glue, settle it onto the neck post and move it around as it dries. Then trim the excess glue and you're done. If you ever need to use the head for something else, the glue-plug will just pop right out). Really, about five seconds of work.

I have to agree totally. I just picked up a "Glenda" and Paraviper, and These are by far the best 1:18th scale figures I ever seen. Even the people at work who DON't collect figures are impressed, and wished they had figures like this when they were kids.

You can also use bits of toilet paper (not used of course). It will make a tighter hole (not THAT kind) plus you still have the option of using the original head again.

Agreed these are quality figures, I'm one of the people lamenting why I'm loyal to the brand after looking at what they gave us in the 80's, lol.

oh well, I didn't know any better, as they say.

I agree with what everyone has said. I just picked up Glenda and the red masked Trooper last night and I am really impressed. Glenda wasn't high on my want list since I initially dismissed her as just another Scarlett repaint with a few new parts. But after recently getting figures from the repaint wave (Python Guard, Cobra Diver, the meteorite element) which really disappointed me, a "repaint" like Glenda is a welcome and impressive improvement.

I'll be painting the hair yellow on my figure, but I have so many other uses for that head, like for a helmet-wearing Scarlett (the way she appeared in early issues of the Marvel series), and for a certain medic's niece...

I liked that look, too.
