I haven't seen this discussed yet, but as I've been army building the new Flint/Cobra disguise figures to pop on the Cobra heads and fill my ranks (they make awesome Cobra mechanics)... I noticed that the Cobra soldier heads come with either black or brown hair. The problem is, it's almost impossible to tell without opening the package which one you are getting...

Wow, that is quite a difference. Thanks for the pic! Did you happen to notice if there is any difference in the embossed date code on the back of package?

Sorry, chucked the packaging before I thought to look. But out if the 13 I have so far, only ONE was brown hair.

I think the good news is the eyebrows are the same as the hair so we can see which variant is which. Thanks for the pics!!!

Woohoo! Someone had better let AFA know so HTS can grade the variants appropriately!

All sarcasm aside, this is a pretty cool variation. Wonder if there will end up being red- and blonde-haired versions before it's all over with?

Out of 13... just 1 brown.

Do you happen to have the DVD Best of set #5 to compare the brown one to the Cobra Paratrooper head? I don't have one yet, but it appears to be brown and I am wondering if they may be the same.

The DVD paratrooper is a different head sculpt and the old helmet doesn't fit on it.

Yup. Same head as on the new Resolute Trooper.

My one Cobra Flint so far has black hair. Just out of curiosity, did the Flint head have brown hair as well? Since the masked head is technically supposed to still be Flint.

Nope, Flint had black hair. But I have seen pics on another site of a packaged version that has a brown-haired Flint. Weird stuff.

So... theoretically there could be up to four packaged variations?

  • Black haired Flint & black haired Trooper
  • Black haired Flint & brown haired Trooper
  • Brown haired Flint & brown haired Trooper
  • Brown haired Flint & black haired Trooper

Sort of like the combinations of Zartan's color change sticker on the card and the color change ability of the figure itself.

Good luck to the MOC completists.
