I FINALLY snagged MATT TRAKKER today. This guy must either be very popular or very short-packed. ONE in an otherwise huge display of figures at a Wal-Mart near me.

Saw some new comic sets, but they didn't have new comics in them. They were classic comics, so they're of no great interest to me (since I already HAVE the comics), but I wonder if these are a Wal-Mart exclusive. Interesting figure choices:

Iron Grenadier and Viper
Deep Six and Rock & Roll (and boy did they have a time stuffing that bulky guy in the package)
Armored Cobra Commander and Gung-Ho.

It didn't look to me as though there was anything all that remarkable about the figures compared to previous versions.

I also saw a single-carded Zartan with his Chameleon Swamp Skier stuffed into the pack. Didn't know that was coming out.

All new stuff. Weird that there was only one Trakker. Maybe the Neon Green is helping it to sell faster than the rest of wave 11?

From what reports I've started seeing, the pilot scarlet figure sells first from this wave.

Female figure, and with a reference to the South American character of Glenda.

I think Trakker's selling because it's Matt Trakker. The collectors know who this guy is and, like me, a lot of them probably think it's cool he's been brought back, and even into the G.I.Joe Team. The file card makes distinct references to MASK and VENOM, the package card uses a modified version of the MASK logo, and frankly, I think the neon green is the last thing selling it. Given how different its color scheme is from the figure, it looks like it belongs with Matt Trakker about as much as a pair of sneakers belongs in a formal wear shop.

Aaaargh. I've yet to see anything at retail, and I had ordered the case from BBTS. I got them last week, but finally just got to open them tonight. Was marveling over Zartan and how cool he is, then I went to swivel his right wrist. Barely touched it and SNAP! off it came. I fixed it with the stem from a push-pin, but now I'm going to have to track down another so I'm not worried about losing his hand. Otherwise, great figure.
I honestly think Trakker is my favorite so far, though. There's just something about him that makes him so cool.

Sheesh, just how fragile ARE these guys? Dare I touch Trakker?

Honestly, they're not really that fragile. either some paint was sticking or the two pieces of the arm had bonded just a bit during a temp change causing them to stick. Zartan and a comic pack Scarface are the only two I've had this happen on, and Scarface's was because a rubberband hand been misapplied and actually worked between the hand and arm, cutting through the tab.
