This week's profile is of the highly creative 2004 Demolishor figure. He is a great amalgamation of molds and remains about the only 2004 convention figure who is still relevant in my collection today.

Enjoy!!

Yep, that is really the gem of the lot.

I didn't mind the dreadhead mold, but the concept left me cold. And as many of you've read, I don't care for tigerforce.

Oi....I have a special place for this guy in my heart. When it came down to the last 10 figures I needed to complete my US run, this bastard was among them. It took me FOREVER to track one down.

One of the few con figures I own, Demolishor is a real gem.

I haven't been too interested in anything Dreaknok since I was a kid, so I use Demolishor as a kick ass bounty hunter/ drug smuggler/ mercenary type. The figure is too cool not to use.

Raise of hands: how many collectors actually have a Steamroller in their collection? Of those, how many use him on a regular basis?
Raises hand. I like Steamroller. He's sitting in one of the BBi LAVs right now. I did switch his torso with Lift Tickets though because I disliked the opened vet on him. I think he's perfect for driving around that piece of armor instead fo the MCC whihc I hardly ever move.

Honest to goodness I was looking at the Dreadnok Rampage set last night. I was one of he poeple who though this was a good set. In hindsight I don't ever, and I do mean ever, use the Dreadheads, or Buzzer, or Ripper from that set. I had to make Crusher Gnawgahyde's brother in order for the figure and concept to work for me. The rest of the figures work pretty well. And I have an appreciation for Hardtop that is comparable to Big Brawler. Tigger Force is an awesome concept. :shifty:

Demolisher though is the star. My one gripe are the painted gloves that go past the glove mold lines and up the forearm. That only looks right form far away. Once you hold him in your hand it is obvious and feels more like something we'd see on a foreign repaint. I'm sure the "factory screwed up" on that one.

The character is ok. The parts combination works great and colors do pop. The open vest which I dislike for Steamroller actually work quite well for a Dreadnok. When I have done stuff with him he usually serves a back up roll. Just another guy to pound heads. While I make most of the dreadnoks capable of fixing their vehicles I tend to see him as the one with actual know how. I think it is the Sagat head that gives him that grizzled "get out of the way and let me do it before you mess it up even more" attitude I see him having. So when he isn't background filler he's tweaking the dreadnok trike.

I can't put my finger on it, but this was a great review, even better than most profiles you do.

As the second canonical Canadian character in GI Joe, I was very interested in getting myself a Demolisher. Unfortunately, he seemed completely unavailable when I was trying hardest to get one. I was disappointed because he was a sharp figure on top of it. I would have preferred the olive used on Zanzibar to the techno green shade Demolisher ended up with, but it's a small gripe that can be overlooked.

If it comes down to it, Steamroller and Sagat are reasonably easy to find. If the flesh tones match, a kitbashed Demolisher is not too difficult.

Great review. I also liked Crusher from this set as well.

The Dreadheads...not so much.

The one figure from the 2004 set I've always wanted.

Great review.

I liked that the club started using the Street Fighter heads since they were not making their own head molds at first. They really have done a great job of finding uses for those sculpts and since most collectors aren't putting MK or Street Fighters in with their Joes, it makes a lot of sense.

I think that Demolishor is an example of a figure that is a B+, but would have easily been an A+ if the con figures were colored more to blend in with the more standard 82-94 colors. When placed with the original Dreadnoks, Demolishor's flesh tone is what really makes him stand out. And it doesn't look right at all. The other option is to use the figures from the con. But then Buzzer, Ripper, Zarana, Road Pig, Thrasher, and Zanzibar don't look as iconic as they should and older Dreadnoks not in the set (like Torch!) are left being the oddballs of the bunch.

As you said, the parts use is excellent. I even like that they colored the vest in a way that seemed like something that retail could have gotten, but was different from Steam Roller to the point that it doesn't feel generic. But I still think that the con sets would serve the collectors of the old Joes better if they did a better job of blending in rather than trying to stand out.

Great profile!

Demolisher is a great addition to the 'Noks, even if it is more of an arms-length membership.

Partswise, the use of the Sagat head and Steamroller body was inspiring. My only issue is his skin color. I'm not a fan of the 'sun burn' tone. It doesn't match up with pre-existing figures and could only be explained as he tans a lot.

Given he is from the Great White North, I guess I picture him as a bit more paler-that's one issue I intend to address with my version.

A while back I came to the realization it might be a whole lot easier and cheaper for me to make my own customs of these grails.

I bought a whole bunch of cast parts from Void for the purpose of making Demolisher, Crusher, and the Dreadheads.

Through some transactions with a few GIJOE dealers here I've gotten the necessary Gnawgy and Muskrats bodies. Just need a Steamroller to do up Demolisher.
