The current 12 inch line has too many problems. First, molded shirts which take out the fun of kitbashing. Second, giant weapons. Third: No realism, which is what the original Gi Joe was known for. That and nosepicker hands.

I'm sure that It's probably been discussed before, but what do you guys really think about 12" JvC figures. Me personally, I'm not really interested in them, just as I was never really interested in the OG 12" G.I. Joe. Now, I'm not knocking 12" figures, as I can see that there is a really [LASER BLAST] opportunity for play value, as well as some really gnarly accessory detail; a good example is the Medical tent profiled in the latest GICC newsletter. Heck, I even bought a 1/6 scale R/C Sherman tank when they went on clearance at Wal -Mart, and I admit, it has some supa cool features. I just wasn't ever really attracted to the scale, and then there's the added (in my eyes) hindrance of every thing being so huge that I have no where to store it. That tank is parked on the floor of my toy room, taking up space. What are some of the pros and cons of one scale versus another? Why did (or have you) settled on one versus another? I'm big on 1/18th, 3.75 or whatever, buying from across lines, but never really had any interest in 1/6th, or 6-8" inch either, for that matter. I never really cared for the MOTU, or Sigma Six when it came along, and quite honestly, I'm not sure why, but I know that the size had a lot to do with it.. I don't wanna start a "That scale sux and it's stupid" argument, I'm just wondering if and why others feel the same way I do. Anyone have any thoughts? |

I think one advantage with 1/6th stuff is, like you mentioned, the detail. Everything from functional pockets to working handcuffs and such are good examples of that. Another advantage is that all the joints on the figures are hidden by the clothing. There are so many 6" figures that would have been awesome if they weren't ruined by an ugly joint system (Face Off Daredevil). Also, compatibility is there too. Just about any accessory or article of clothing will fit 1/6th scale figures, no matter who makes it. |

Wow, I hadn't even thought of the articulation being hidden by the clothing, but that's an excellent point. That's one thing that sometimes bugs me about 1/18th figures. |

I don't colect the 12 inch line for 2 reasons A- they take up 2 much space B- I'm too cheap to collect more than 1 thing at a time. That being said I do collect the 12 inch figures for certain characters: Wild Bill Flint Spirit Airborne Beach Head and have plans way down the road to customize a few.... Basically the big drawback is space. If I were still a kid they wouldn't appeal to me as they lack playability.... only because of their size as mentioned before by others feature wise they are fantastic ! |

I forgot to mention my 12" collecting habits. I don't buy as much as I used to. Now, it's a 12" here and there of a movie or comic character or something similar. My last 12"ers were Indiana Jones and Jack Sparrow. Currently on display I have Batman, Indy, Jack, and Optimus Prime. |

I wish Hasbro would stop making 1/6th GiJoe stuff. It never sells well, ends up warming pegs, and eventually ends up as a drag on the brand as a whole. I own a ton of 1/6th scale stuff. It's almost entirely Dragon, Blue Box, and 21st Century Toys. What those companies made eight years ago still beats the hell out of what Hasbro is making today. Granted that the Dragon and Blue Box stuff was geared towards adult collectors, but 21C found a niche in between both kids and adult collectors, and they did a hell of a good job with it (though their QC was often spotty). Too bad Hasbro never really stepped up their game. Hasbro's weapons continued to be clunky, many of which featured spring-loaded crap, while the other companies were making weapons with removeable magazines, working actions, folding bipods and stocks, and so on. Hasbro's 1/6th clothing tended to be underdetailed, while other companies had working pockets, real patches, boots that actually laced. Other companies made their bodies more articulated with double hinged knees and elbows, while Hasbro stuck with the same old thing. Damn, even knock off brands such as Soldiers of the World had double hinged articulation. Hasbro didn't even bother trying to keep up with them. That's like letting the CORPS outpace the 25th. It's sad really. 12" Joe is the one that started it all, and yet Hasbro refuses to show the scale any real love. |

I wish Hasbro would bring back the 12" Joes to their roots but with a modern updated twist. Thing is, high details 12" figures are aimed at a collectors audience and Hasbro is a toy company thus explaining the Cobra Commander and Snake Eyes figures made by Sideshow. I love both scale and I just wish they'd stop making molded shirts on their 12" ARAH line. |

I've complained about Hasbro's 12" figures till I'm blue in the face. It's like they have no clue what to do with the line. The new 12" Hasbro Indiana Jones figures look twice as good as the new Joes and are only five more dollars. The worst thing to me is Hasbro has the figure and weapon molds and clothes patterns already that in the right combination could make some great Joe and Cobra's for around twenty dollars. |
