There's a lot of negativity on the boards lately, a lot of which is directed at Hasbro. I could go into detail, but that would defeat the purpose of this thread.

So, what's got you happy lately? This is in the Joe forum so it will mostly be Joe related, but if seeing flowers blooming in falls makes you so happy you want to talk about it, feel free to talk about it here to.

Just so it's clear, this is a zero negativity thread. No sly moves like starting a compliment and twisting it into an insult or saying you have nothing good to say. Strictly positivity.

With the rules out of the way, I'll start. 25th BAT.

Isn't it great to be pleasantly surprised by something you thought you'd love? The BAT looked amazing, I've known that for months. What I didn't know was just how many surprises it packed. Both hands are interchangeable? Fantastic! The claw hand is articulated? Unbelievable. Add to it one of the best concealed midtorso joints and a really sharp recreation of the original colour scheme and I am thrilled.

This:

Image

Tiger Force (I love Tiger Force) Flint (I love Flint) and cartoon (I love the cartoon) Lady Jaye (love Lady Jaye) riding a RAM together (I love Flint and Lady Jaye together. I never owned a RAM, but I like it just fine.

Finally, I'm happy with myself. Earlier today I was in Zellers and came across a Dark Knight Joker. Just one. This is a rare and popular figure, I could easily have picked it up for trade fodder. Instead I left it. When I was checking out, I saw a lady at the next cash with that Joker. Maybe I'm making assumptions, but she didn't look like a scalper. She looked like a mother bringing a toy home for her son or daughter. The thing about The Joker is that it isn't just a variant figure that you have to know is rare to care. It is the film's main villain and an important toy for a fan of Batman to own. I'm sure some time today some kid flipped with joy that his mom found this for him. That's something I could have taken away without even knowing it.

The comic packs. Remakes of classic figures are great, but new blood is what keeps Joe interesting. With the exception of the first wave, I've loved every comic pack that has come out. Great variations on classic characters (and figures like Nemesis Enforcer that I thought we'd never see in 25th style), and, with the rising cost of the singles, a pretty damn good deal price-wise, too.

DVD Pack Baroness, Roadblock, Destro, Stalker, Cobra Soldier. All wins.

25A Vamp, 25A Armadillo, 25A Rattler. Great vehicles. Sometimes, you can come home. ;-)

Storm Shadow vs. Firefly comic book. This story really felt like the old stuff Hama did. It stood out as one that he put his heart into. Does Stormy finally off Firefly after tracking him for years and years? Does he enjoy avenging the death of the Hard Master? No. He answers hatred with compassion and sets things right with Firefly's long-lost sister. Incidentally, I double loved (yeah, that's a lot!) this issue because it seemed like a "real time sequel" to the 80's stuff in terms of years-gone-buy. While they weren't drawn this way, the characters exuded a "we're past our prime and it's time to give it a rest after one last brawl" vibe that made the story shine.

Swivel wrists and double hinged knee articulation. It's hard to say how much these little tweaks up the fun factor for the figures.

Great thread idea, btw!

Lately? Well...

Seeing my customs come to fruition smoothly. Really, most of the stuff I've worked on lately hasn't given me an ounce of trouble beyond, "Does this head look better on this one, or does THIS head look better?" which usually leads to "Say, that other head looks good on this one..." and yet another custom added to the queue. It's like the Custom Muse has parked herself in a chair next to me and just keeps handing me ideas.

Actually finding the desire to write some of those bios I've held off on for years.

Finding out that Sims 2: Apartment Life isn't as glitchy/buggy as many claimed and is in fact, a lot more fun to play than I'd imagined.

Finding Henry Jones Sr. and Grail Knight figures at Wal-mart.

Realizing that the true happiness I find in the hobby is by doing what I feel like, and not tying myself down to any one fact, faction, facet, genre, or anything pigeonholed and no longer caring what anyone else thinks of it. Hence were born such wild ideas as an Old West gunfighter, Couch Potato Guy, The King, The King, The King of Manhattan and a bunch of cool spy chicks. Couch Potato Guy especially because it gave me a use for that Rancor Keeper in the drawer!

Finding out that yes, even now and then 25A can produce a gem (Nemesis Immortal).

Realizing that Clone Wars Obi-Wan is actually hella cooler than I thought, when you switch heads. :-)

Autumn leaves, cool weather and gray skies that don't bring rain or snow but herald the autumn itself.

Last week, I was in Walmart and came across the all black commando Snake Eyes that appeared magically, it would seem. I passed on this figure a year ago, but couldn't allow myself to do it this time. It is so cool.

Also, while picking up some BAF parts on ebay, I saw the guy had a BAT up, so I bid and got it for $5.51. This will be my second one. Both coming from ebay. It's a great toy.

I'll echo everything said about 25th BAT and add on the fantastic detailing on the arms and neck. Probably one of my favorite action figures ever.

Also, I'm proud of myself for buying someone a Rattler and realizing I don't have to have it. That's a big step for me.

I may be missing out on allot of toys but Student Teaching is making me happy Because I know Graduation proceeds after.

Yeah I know I am missing out on the conquest, rattler or any of the smaller cool vehicles, any new CPs, and all the cool singles as of recent (sans BBQ I saved change to buy that one!) But hopefully I will be gainfully employed in a few short months and be able to get all the stuff I missed.

Every time I get into the fire engine it makes me happy. I am aware bad things have to happen for us to get called and I don't wish that upon anyone but knowing I can go help and ride in the Fire truck with lights and sirens to do so. That just never gets old. Every firefighter I ever met still admits to it, big boys big toys. (PS this doesn't affect my level of professionalism.)

I popped open my Cobra Night Watch last night. It has an awesome cardboard backdrop of GI Joe HQ and even a protruding sandbag emplacement that figs can stand behind. I'm really pleased with the great stuff Hasbro has been doing with their packaging lately (Joe and Indy), namely providing great backdrops against which to display or photograph figures.

I just got back from a week-long business trip. The trip iteself was a fantastic break from my ordinary routine. I got a lot of quailty work done. The hotel was one of the best I have ever stayed at. Almost on par to the Dallas/Frisco convention hotel. My wife e-mailed me a picture of my kids holding my new GIJoe DVD packs that came in while I was gone. (This made me laugh.) I got an exit row seat on my flight up and back. My flight back landed 10 minutes early. The shuttle bus to the economy parking lot pulled up seconds before I walked on to it and left as soon as I sat down. On my drive back home the airport I stopped at TRU and found a Firebat and a Star Wars Legacy Vader's Appentice pack. (I didn't get one the first time around.)

The Vader's Appentice pack is really cool. The Firebat is flat out awesome when you have it all stickered up. AVAC is really sweet and he fits in the cockpit like a glove.

25th bat is hella cool, Snow serpants rocks as well, the one of this wave that caught me off guard was Ninja Ku Storm Shadow, I wasn't going to worry about him until I saw him in hte store and right then and there I decied he was worth it, While the mold has been used to death, It was an interesting take on it.

Nemisis Enforeer (Imortal) is probably my 3rd favorite fig of the year, I just think he is awesome.

Very happy with getting my Temple of Doom Wave in the mail, GREAT wave, possibly my favorite of the line.

Also I found only one of the latest set of Build and brawl wrestlers, and it was the main one I wanted: Chris Jericho.

Also finally found force unleashed multi packs with the Palpatine I wanted.
