It's rare that I profile a vehicle as they are no longer a major part of my collection. But, of the few vehicles that do make the cut, there is usually a nostalgic reason for their appearance in my collection. The Havoc is such a vehicle. While it's ludicrous at best in terms of realism, it was a toy that I greatly enjoyed as a kid. So, it remains part of my collection today while other, better vehicles do not interest me at all.

Very nice Mike... Nice to see you throw the curveball and include a vehicle.

I didn't see it mentioned...but I'm pretty sure the Action Force version of the Havok came with Red parts instead of Orange...so the guns and missiles were all red...pics I've seen show that it makes a Drastic difference.

Also I find myself distracted by how you've equipped your figures again. You've got your Unproduced Night Force Tracker wearing a production visor...the way I've always seen Tracker wearing it is with the ridges covering his eyes and the bulkier padding to the back of his head.... I've always felt it matched up with the card art showing multiple lines that are sculpted but not painted on the finished peice.

Ahhh '86, the year of laying down to drive around. The LCV, Havoc...help me out here.

I remember feeling a distinct "Meh" towards the Havoc when released. My friend and I were so blown away by 85's lineup (and frankly very busy driving the Mauler and manning the Flagg) that, with the exception of the STUN and Night Raven, he didn't bother picking up any vehicles from that years release. I snagged the Conquest from a JC Penneys (out of lack-of-Skystriker-rage) and enjoyed it quite a bit. A later birthday party yielded the Triple T tank and Christmas brought the Terrordrome but ultimately 86 on my block was all about the figures.

Thanks for your look into a silly but nostalgic vehicle.

I saw that too. Unlike Outback or Chuckles, this one stuck out like a sore thumb. It is like looking at someone with their helmet on backwards.

As for the HAVOC, I never understood it. I'm not saying it is a bad vehicle. Far from it. My friend at the time had it and it was a really fun vehicle for all the reasons you mentioned. He displayed his with all of his current favorite Joes.

For my money I wanted something I at least understood as a vehicle. I still don't know what to make of the HAVOC. I look at it and don't get what it is supposed to be. That means I have no idea where it fits in the Joe Motor Pool. I've found a place for Cross Country as the driver of the APC, but I can't find a place for his vehicle.

nice review. The havoc was always one of my favorites as a kid too.

though the fan car was never in place and i used it as a mobile base.

Mike why do you tease with that Heavy Metal mic! You even dared to pose him near the muddy water, what if that mic had fallen in! As for the HAVOC it was a neat vehicle with a lot of playability as a toy and media exposure on the show - even if it didn't make sene that the driver was sitting on top of it, never did get into Cross Country's character.

I thought the Euro Havoc had a variant, too. But, I wasn't sure, so I left that out. I really like the Brazilian green, though and would love to get my hands on one. But, shipping from Brazil would likely be more than the cost of the vehicle!

The only reason I have the visor on that way is because when I turn it the other way, it hangs too low on the figure's face. So, he looks like a librarian with his eyes up over the top of the visor. So, I went with the backwards look since it covered his eyes.

It's a Marauder John repro. (Notice that it's black.) So, had it fallen in, I'd have been out a buck. I had two HM mics as a kid and both were lost by the same rotten kids who came over and ransacked my toy room when I was at school. So, it's only a repro for me until I find a cheap real one. ;)
