1993, more crap, less quality.
Figures from Mega Marines, Ninja Force, Star Brigade, Streetfighter 2 and exactly the same copy mail-ins are not in.
Let everyone know what figure you like best (and please explain why)!

I went with ALLEY-VIPER, because I felt that the yellow-and-black color scheme was a vast improvement over the original orange, and darn cool in its own right.

Had Mega-Marines been listed, MEGA-VIPER would've been a contender. Cool sculpt. Admittedly an outrageous color scheme, but it was so over the top it was actually cool (although I have to say the Swamp-Viper recoloration in the 2003 Convention Set was a distinct improvement).

Another contender would have to be the HEADHUNTER STORMTROOPER.

There was certainly some garbage on the year. Night Creeper Leader leads the pack in my opinion on this.

I rather liked the "Name Your Own Cobra" figure, despite the color scheme. By means of a background, I named mine ULTRA-VIPER, and sort of wrote my own file card for him eventually, whereby they were almost a "non-division", where almost any other Viper division might have participants. So in battle, you never knew if you were facing Night-Vipers, HEAT-Vipers, Alley-Vipers, or whatever. Wearing pink just made them meaner... :D

Alley Viper, hands down. Easily an improvement over the original, it's mold only tarnished by the later addition of bad legs and over-use.

Headhunter Stormtrooper was another VERY strong figure that year.

HEAT Viper in a close one. The lime green works for me and it's definitely a better sculpt than v1.

Headhunter Stormtrooper would have won if not for the arms being so low on the body (although I only noticed after someone here pointed it out on this year's Con figure)

Create-A-Cobra and Snow Serpent are also very nice

I'm a BIG fan of :cobra:'s snow troops and I would love to be able to get one of those Snow Serpents to command my troops.

As much as I want to go witht he Alley Viper, I went With Cobra Commander.

I thought the Black brought out the regal look of the uniform, and looks a lot better than the original blue.

Firefly. Favorite figure ever. Such a cool sculpt that just screamed I CAN KILL YOU ALL. It also screamed "I like bright colors" but it was so good at killing, he wanted to be noticed to make it harder. That's how I made it work. I remember distinctly this being the first Joe I bought with my own money. I remember going to Kmart with my dad to pick up soda for the pizza we were going to pick up afterward and I went to the toy aisle and saw this awesome figure and bought it with my allowance. I remember sitting on the floor, bitiing into the pizza and one of my teeth falling out (it's important to note that I was five in 1993 haha), but not caring because I had the coolest toy in the world.

Hard choice for me. I finally had it narrowed down to Alley Viper and Interrogator.

Something about that Interrogator, I just love. Maybe the helmet, it had a semi-sci-fi feel about it.

I like a fair number of these figures. But, the clear cut winner is the Cobra Commander. For me, this is the single best version of the character ever released. The HHST is a great figure in it's own right. But, I'd rather have the best Cobra Commander than a HHST if I had to choose one or the other.

ESPECIALLY the ill-fitting legs of later years. Yeah, it got overused, but there were some immensely cool color schemes during those years -- if only the figures could stand up worth a darn...

AlleyViper, Yellowjacket squad, pretty much one of the top 5 best COBRA Troopers ever, and easily the best for this year.

Cobra commander, my favorite version to date, second only to the battle-helmeted original.

Gristle for me, didn't like the neon paint but it was a new Cobra big wig to ad to the chain of command

1. Headhunter Stormtrooper. Unique look, great army builder. I wish they were Joes!

2. Snow Serpent. A fine repaint and I like it better than the v1 with yellow.
3. Gristle. Yeah, a new character. Fits perfectly in the Headman gang.
